Loads of snow around here, enough to slow down traffic, but alas not enough to stop traffic all together. Shame, I haven't had a snow day for years, and I've got a lot of housework to get through this week...

Well I thought I'd use my day off to wrap presents.......except I've just discovered that I've only bought 3 so far. Ooops!
Anyone here work for TKMaxx? Why do they use price stickers that are made up of 27 different sections and therefore impossible to get off? (I'm not exaggerating! I've counted!)
Ocado just cancelled my re-delivery today. I'll be sending out for food parcels here soon!
Hope everyone's enjoying their day.

I did find it slightly amusing that the Met Office warning map was covered with "Yellow Snow" warnings. Sure enough, there was some next to a telegraph pole just seconds from my house. (Strange how the name "telegraph pole" has persisted, given that very few people have ever owned a telegraph.) I read this on the train this morning, and 8 hours later finally got the joke.

The snowman in the front garden has collapsed somewhat. My other half removed the champagne bottle arms because he said someone would chuck em through the window. Yes, I live in an area where we drink champagne a lot and then throw things about. The scarf is now drooping on the ground. The carrot is still in situ and strikingly erect. It is the nose of the snowman..

Woke up to melting snow, lots of slush and a miserable wet commute on a packed train. However, 3 hour long boozy work Christmas lunch soon cheered me up. Now to try to avoid nodding off in an orchestral concert tonight!

No snow in Rouen, just rain. Visited 3 churches & a museum. One of the singers on this cruise looks disconcertingly like Stasia. Wondering if she's moonlighting?!

So I got a ticket to see The Cure (and Interpol, Goldfrapp, Editors, Ride, Slowdive, The Twilight Sad and Uncle Tom Cobley thrown in as well) in Hyde Park next July in the presale this morning. I 'only' paid ยฃ80 for the privilege in the presale (the premium bit was sold out but I didn't want to pay ยฃ110, I'll try to enjoy looking over 60,000 or so people from my place in the proles section while thinking how I'll spend the ยฃ30 I saved - but unless something really amazing is announced in the next two weeks, thats the last tickets I'll be booking for anything this year.

Oh yes. He likes any excuse to waffle... He was (s)mashed for most of last week. strictly speaking Maris Lane is NOT in Cambridge It may have been a village when you were a lad, but I think most people would now regard it as being a fully paid-up part of Cambridge. I used to work on the potato farm in Maris Lane It wasn't a farm, it was a research station, so there. That'll learn you to mock northerners!!

Today was a weird one...was 20 minutes late to work, due to sleeping in and getting stuck behind a learner driver on the way. Got into work wondering why there was extra staff in, only to actually discover that I wasnt even supposed to be in (I've worked the same shift every Tuesday for nearly 2 years, so didnt really think of checking the work rota).
Ended up leaving work to go do some shopping as I was already out of the house. Only for a child to pull away my trolley as I was leaning on it, and ended flat on my face in the middle of Tesco.
On the plus side today marks exactly 3 months until I go to New York YAY!

I have a bit of a dilemma I feel people on here may be able to help me with. My mum wants a mousemat for Christmas so I am trying to make her a personalised one using word to make a collection or words and have tried to screen shot them in an iPad which appears to be a good picture but when I go to vista print it is all fuzzy. Anyone know what's wrong or any alternative?

Your screenshot is probably only going to be 72 or 96 dpi (dots per inch), because thatโs the resolution screens usually display images at- you can check that in the image properties, usually, though Iโm not sure how to do it on an iPad.
Good print quality requires higher resolution - 300-350 dpi.
You will probably need to convert your word file to a picture format using a graphics programme do you can save it at a high enough resolution for print.

From what Dawnstar says about the entertainment on her cruises, I'm not sure that's going to prevent you getting the job if you want it... I'd say some singing ability is required but they're not generally West End standard. Nor's the dancing, choreography or costumes. It would also be nice if they changed the shows more. I believe this was at least the 4th time I've sat through their not-nearly-as-good-as-Mamma-Mia ABBA show. I mean, I'm happy to repeat-view shows I enjoy but... The novelty this time was to have the introductory show interrupted by a 10 mins sales pitch for the various departments on board. And don't get me started on the waiters serving drinks throughout & a theatre that'd be about 75% red on @theatremonkey's website. I suppose there's a peverse sort of talent in designing a circle with no unobstructed views.

Well, got to hand it to British Gas; engineer came in two hours from my call and fixed it. He looked about 12 to me. ๐ But he had the whole scenario covered. I know, I know, a degree down and we southerners canโt take it.

Edinburgh didn't get any snow recently, but since yesterday evening there is a thin layer of ice on streets and pavements. Oh what a joy to walk on. One of my friends said that everyone on the streets look like they shat themselves, which is a very good description. Anyways, today is the day I'm going to see Shrek. I left tickets at home. I love this day.

I never once met a box office that wouldn't reprint my forgotten tickets upon production of my booking reference, don't worry about it.

Amazing tip @baemax , thank you! I'll try to call them (I was about to leave the office now, to dash through the ice). UPDATE: Edinburgh Playhouse hero called David just responded to me and told me they will reprint tickets for me. Thank you @baemax, you are a star

I tip up at theatres fairly regularly minus tickets - sitting safely on the mantle piece 100 miles north - never had a problem getting them re-printed on arrival. Glad Edinburgh Playhouse were similarly accommodating michalnowicki - enjoy the show
