Their New Year artistic press conference will be threadbare, most of it has been leaked. Most of it has already been programmed and announced, one look at their website tells you that. The Pinnochio story is not leaked as Norris has clearlt spoken to Baz.

Follies is playing in the Olivier I think it's bizarre they are putting this on just a few weeks after Follies opens, surely they want that to play over Christmas too?? Unless Pi ain't opening inOlivier... Yes I thought both Follies and Pinocchio were both inthe Oli genes my mass confusion at how they were having two biggies at the same time in the same auditorium

I think this could be wonderful....anything helmed by John Tiffany is going to be (potentially) something special The use of puppetry intrigues me, I assume Jiminy Cricket, Fox and Cat, the donkeys and Monstro will be puppets, I'm wonder if Pinocchio himself will be a puppet or if they'll use an actor.

I am genuinely quite excited about this and I think I have already planned my Christmas show this year . I think the puppetry will be cool but i feel like I heard something about them doing animations. It would be cool if they had Pinocchio like the movie. This will definitely be a more lion king approach being more artistic to a Disney musical rather than Alladin or the little mermaid being a direct stage version of the original. I wonder who will be cast?

It's nice that Norris isn't scared of musicals at the NT. They can do big, interesting things that the commercial sector won't touch. I have big hopes for this.

I wonder how dark they'll make the stage musical, the original book is quite dark and the film while not as dark does have its moments

Having seen what can be achieved with horses as puppets, the whale sequence really does have the potential to be quite spectacular. It would also be quite an interesting spin to have the world of Pinocchio full of puppets, where the only person who thinks he's a puppet and yearns to be a real boy, is actually a real boy the whole time.

I think you'd need a few human characters like Gepetto, Coachman, Lampwick and maybe the Blue Fairy everything else could be puppets or costumes While Monstro could be amazing, I'd be interested to see how they do the donkey transfomation, that could visually amazing if utterly terrifying if done well Baz mentioned that they're not only using songs from the film but also other songs from the Disney back catalogue as well so I'm interested what songs they're also choosing for the production

Think this is one of the few shows where a wooden performance will benefit

I guess Jiminy Cricket might be female but having the Blue Fairy as male would be interesting considering she's usually depicted as female.

Possibly and also triple casting would be too much cost wise. Cursed Child has young adults playing teenagers so perhaps they're slightly aging up Pinocchio

What, releasing a cast recording approx. 12 months after the show has finished? Missing a prime marketing opportunity?

The one and only ALAN CUMMING is going to be playing the other leading role: the Fox, or "Honest" John Worthington Foulfellow.
I imagine he'll be brilliant.
