I loved it too, but the problem was it ran out of directions. The concept was brilliant but limited just where it could go, I think. Towards the end, when they were living together and using bells to navigate, I was feeling the desperation of the writers. Still, a mermaid show would be one amazing musical theatre sequence for sure. Maybe that's what Disney were hoping for with Ariel and her friends... look how that turned out. Stull, The Darling Mermaid Darlings would be far more entertaining

I know we have Shrek the musical, but has anyone considered instead, a musical based off the second Shrek film. Which is clearly the best of the Shrek films and should have been the one adapted anyway. Especially because the Fairy Godmother would make for such a stage character.

Enjoyed the Sally Fields movie 'Norma Rae' the other day - sparky girl forms union at textile plant, in defiance of family and uber-evil bosses. It's well trodden ground, but someone agrees with me that it would make a good musical, as it seems it's in development. Christopher Guest's films would all work well on stage (especially if they gave the cast space for a touch of improv). 'A Mighty Wind' particularly has some great songs (it would need a few more a-graders to flesh out a musical, but the foundation's there). 'Spinal Tap' would be an easy sale. 'Best In Show' is loveable, and would work with or without songs.

I reckon My Best Friends Wedding and Betsy’s Wedding would both make great stage musicals

Having watched the entirety of the BBC 3 Show Witless a couple of times now I reckon that would make a good musical.

Miss Congeniality still tops my list, even though Ms. Menzel is too old to play Gracie Hart now. It's just so theatrical, has some great supporting characters, and Gracie would be such a powerhouse role. And this scene, of-course

And this scene, of-course i would love a musical about that film, could see Lucie Jones or Danielle Hope in Sandra Bullocks role

Mr Men and Little Miss books. Great for the family. I think it would be important for the actors faces to be visible,
The movie The Imitation Game.
Vladimir, putin on the ritz. About inner turmoils of a successful gay man who hides his sexuality by trying to appear extremely tough. Probably wise to write this anonymously.
As Sherlock Homes is now out of copyright, I had the idea of a stage play based of The Hounds Of The Baskervilles. Howver there is a problem with ending the show with a dead dog on stage. Not worked out how to do that yet.

I haven’t scrolled through the last ten pages so forgive me if it’s been said, but how about the Neil Diamond ‘Jazz Singer’? Some cracking songs on the album and it could be fleshed out with other (not neccessarily well known) Diamond songs. It would have massive appeal for Londons Jewish population, ladies of a certain age and lovers of a good melody.

The blackface would be a problem, although that scene would be easy enough to cut.

Four Weddings and a Funeral or Notting Hill would be interesting as musicals, the latter has a lot more potential.

Just seen a post on Facebook that there is to be Rupaul the Musical on Broadway, with original songs from Alan Menken and Kylie. Then I remembered the date....

I know it sounds really naff and would never happen but I would just love a musical about the whole Sunset Boulevard debacle. Patti. Glenn. Meryl. Babs. Imagine the moment when Patti started smashing up her dressing room staged and all the other bits she tells of in her memoir. It would be fabulous.

Love Simon.
I reckon Love Smon would make a great musical.
A story that seems to have touched a nerve with a lot of people, a story that is relevant for today, not too many characters, complexities with characters other than the lead.
Just a thought.
