Very jealous of those of you who had a stress free time.
I was about 1700 (not great but not terrible) though only about 20 minutes to get in - but all went tits up at 9am. Whilst trying to access my basket which had about 6 tickets in it I was put into a queue for 'An Evening with Private Eye' for which booking was due to open in 30 minutes. Going back I could seemingly get into the seating plans - but any attempt to buy put me back in the Private Eye queue. Then a myriad of error messages, then just a blank screen with the NT logo. After much refreshing things got back on track - though payment wasn't easy with an error message saying unable to process at the same time as the email confirmation. Whether a technical glitch or bad planning (two priorities events booking on the same day) or a mixture of both - who knows - though the National has previous!!
So about an hour for me before I'd actually booked what I wanted, with a bit too much drama and tension for this time of day.

I'm a Priority Member but haven't received an email about booking. How odd. I must contact them.

I'm a Priority Member but haven't received an email about booking. How odd. I must contact them. It appears one can accidentally unsubscribe from the Priority Booking emails, which I apparently did, though I can't for the life of me think of why anyone would want to do that deliberately. Impressed by the prompt reply from Priority, though. I'll have to wait till the next booking season for The Visit, then.

Arrrggghh, did get Seven Streams and Brilliant Friend but oh what a stress.
Was 2111 in the queue, which went down in 30 mins or so. But froze on the queues for individual performances, so lost out on front stalls for Brilliant Friend, but ended up with back row of Circle for that and decided on second price band for Ota.
Payment though was a nightmare, kept coming up with error messages and freezing. Eventually got there.
Very pleased with what I got though.

I got the same with Private Eye, was nearly throwing laptop out window at that point.

If you had to bet, what would you guess are the chances that The Visit will get an NT Live screening? I’ll be in London for just a few days in March, with only three theatre slots to fill. Right now, The Visit is on my short list, but there are a lot of other candidates vying for a slot, so if I thought there was a good chance I could see The Visit in an NT Live screening, I might bump it from the list and replace it with one of the other candidates.
I know I’m asking for speculation, but I would welcome any thoughts anyone has on the question.

You can never tell, but I would think there is a high chance that The Visit will have an NT Live broadcast. It's the flagship Olivier show early next year and has a great cast led by Lesley Manville and Hugo Weaving. I would also hope for a live broadcast for The Welkin but that's maybe not as safe a bet for one. I'm with you though - I have a relatively limited number of London theatre slots per year and quite often no sooner do I book tickets, flights and hotel to see something, then wham, an NT Live showing is announced! Happened me last year when I was going over to see All My Sons and All About Eve at the same time. Not carping though, it's always a thrill when something is announced for a cinema relay!

If you change your mind, it's easy enough to get a credit from the NT against a future purchase. Straight forward process.

Couple of things I noticed about the upcoming season:
The Visit is a 1PM/7PM kick orf
and this about Death of England:
From the look of the staging (cross of St George) there will be a lot of movement in, what I think is, a one-man show.

Was around 1600 in the queue, 600 on my cellphone, but that somehow kicked me out while booking. Took about half an hour, booked The Visit for March. Front seats mostly gone, but lots of others still available.

I got straight in at 8.30 but there were no £15 front seats left for The Welkin, so I'm going to try again on public booking day in the hope some have been held back. I don't think I'll renew my membership - I always manage to get something better through returns: there are a lot available at the mo for The Antipodes so I've just swapped my expensive but rear stalls ticket (the only one I could see on advance booking day) for a slightly restricted but half the price apparently front row one.

Opps I forgot A Taste of Honey at Trafalgar - £18 second row seats available on all the dates I looked at.

Thanks londonpostie , forgot A Taste of Honey is available through the National, picked up an £18 second row matinee ticket for the same day I’m seeing The Welkin.

Next summer in the Olivier, a Romeo and Juliet dir. Simon Godwin. To complement the one at Regent's Park. I'd been fantasizing about Hytner doing it at the Bridge with some of the young cast from MSND but this will do. My daughter is in Year 10 and it's her GCSE set text.

It is a tough play to do well. The last time they did it during Trevor Nunn’s reign it was a catastrophe. Let’s see what gimmick Godwin goes with (if any). Looks like he has abandoned the RSC in favour of NT now - another Doran failure.

Is it still on the GCSE syllabus. If so, then wise choice. Maybe we should attach ourselves to school parties to get cheaper seats. But I won’t bother , seen so many R&Js and they all end so sadly....

I’ve got my fingers crossed they will do a version in the future.

My problem with r+j is that it feels like two plays in one
After the start it feels like a romance with comedic relief. That’s the best part of the play
Then it slows down in the second half for the tragedy. Two of the most memorable characters have died and now we watch the stars slowly align as circumstance after unfortunate circumstance lead to the lovers death
Still Godwin is currently my favourite Shakespeare director and have faith in him to put on a good production at least
He just needs to give the play a certain ‘oomph’. Something like Rupert Gould’s violent and fiery version

"Seven Streams of the River Ota" is not available in the Amex presale, annoyingly!
Picked up a nice £18 seat at the front for "Taste of Honey" though.
