Oh, got them mixed up. Damn - I was hoping Parkinson would be in the Hopkins one. Is she a good singer? Or instrumentalist?

The one play out of the new season that I can't wait for is 'Home, I'm Darling' with the gorgeous Katherine Parkinson. She's our new Maggie Smith. A damehood beckons in the future methinks.

Just a minor gripe of mine but I find all the new artwork for the season very drab. I remember commenting when Norris first came on board how dull everything looked, then just lately we have been treated to some lovely designs for Follies, AiA and plenty of the others. But this new set of artwork looks like virtually no effort has been put into it. John is about the best of a bad bunch.

No brochure this time? I know the details are on the web, but the brochure was handier to pass over to OH and say "what do you fancy in this". Booking is next Tues for friends, has already opened for others and there was no mention of a brochure in the email announcing the new season. Is this the NT cost cutting, or has my postie delivered it to someone else?

Thanks, @parsley and tmesis. Might still arrive in time, then. There's normally a link to the PDF version in the season announcement but it isn't there either.

Yes, my brochure arrived today too.
No more performances of St. George after 2nd Dec, although it doesn't say 'last' in brochure or on website. However, many more performances of Amadeus, going through to 24th April, so I think we can safely assume St. George has been binned (as a mediocrity maybe).

Is this the NT cost cutting, or has my postie delivered it to someone else? I just received my brochure in the post today, I had no idea the priority members booking opens next Tuesday at the silly time of 8.30am. Usually the NT sends an email announcing the booking dates followed by a link to the on- line brochure and finally the hard copy brochure itself. Only by reading this thread did I find out about the dates before today. Not sure why the NT has been so sloppy this time? It leaves little time to organise dates with friends and family before next Tuesday morning. Looking forward to the website meltdown next Tuesday at 8.30am, I normally have to take the morning off work to do the booking as I'm usually en route to the office when it opens. Is it worth the stress I wonder every time as I open the shiny new brochure? Most of the time this year it has not been worth it apart from AiA which seemed to have a totally different booking system.

My "save the date" email with booking times (it's always 8:30am as well, so not sure how that's suddenly silly) for members and links to all the productions that will be going on sale dropped into my inbox on 27th October. Maybe you have an over-zealous spam filter to blame, rather than a sloppy NT? Just a thought.

NT so late with the Booking dates that my Saturdays nights are mostly taken up to Easter. Managed to squeeze in a couple of Thursdays. I have booked for John having no idea what it is but I booked aisle seats so I can sidle away if necessary.

Must admit to being excited about Anne-Marie Duff as Lady Macbeth... I don't know whether it's been brought up before within all the Macbeth discussions but this will actually be here second stab (ha) at it. She did it on Broadway in 2013. It wasn't very well-received which might be why she's having another go.

It was a strange take on the Scottish play with witches in lots of scenes.

I had it in my head that this Macbeth was a re-mounting of THAT Macbeth, with Kinnear taking the title role over from Ethan Hawke. Can only assume I saw Duff's casting, put two and two together and got 400. Having read up on the reviews of the 2013 production, I'm VERY glad I got it wrong.

Now I've had time to glance at my brochure, I'm relieved - both because booking on Tuesday 7 at 8.30 am is impossible for me and because I might be immobile for some weeks if I have a further op early in the new year - to find that the offering is distinctly lacklustre.
Having read about what was coming up and being interested in some of it, I feared missing out, but most of those productions must be in a later booking period and of the new selection, only Absolute Hell definitely tempts me. However, even then I will at least want some casting info as I saw the Judi Dench version at the NT; plus there are further dates to be announced, so it can safely wait.
Also looks, from the performance times, as though it might be very long, and whilst I don't want a late evening finish, a 1.30 pm matinee is a pain, too, so I shall bide my time.

I can't wait for 'Absolute Hell' either to be honest and I'm very jealous that you saw Dame Judi in it. I've only ever seen the TV version. I'm sure she was thrilling. I think it looks very much like a Helen McCrory type of role to me. Someone of that ilk.

No indeed, @ryan - but I do at times avoid booking due to casting - and Helen McCrory would definitely deter me.

You missed a treat there, Ryan, although interestingly quite a few of the leads were played by the same actors when it came to the stage some years later. The biggest treat (apart from Judi, of course!) was seeing June Brown, live on stage, playing Dot Cotton! She was playing 'Doris', but you were waiting the whole time for her to call Christine 'Pauline'! (Seriously though, I do remember her being really good in this.) Can't wait for this one too.

Big shout out to Arthur in the NT Box Office helpline who couldn't have been more helpful when my voucher thing went pearshaped this morning.
I have to say though that an 8.30am booking start time couldn't be worse. All grand if you're retired in the Home Counties but a very different story if you have kids to get out to school and a job to go to. Blah! 😠

Very happy that - at least for me - the system didn't collapse this morning. Hope this means that the National has got their IT problems sorted.
