Will see the Nutcracker at the London Coliseum next week - my first ballet - very excited. Anyone seen it yet? If yes, how is it?

I am sure you will enjoy it. I went to the ROH production this year. You could check out "Dancing the Nutcracker" on BBC iplayer from BBC2 on Christmas Day, which goes through casting, rehearsals, etc. I know it's the wrong company (Royal Ballet) but it gives an idea of what's involved in preparation for a major production.

I am a big fan of the ROH production but the ENB is a close second favourite for sure! The BBC documentary about the ROH one was honestly the best thing I've seen on television in ages.

If you get a little bit bored by some of the scenes in the first half, don't worry - most people I know forget about the slower bits once the second half starts and I've not yet taken anyone who didn't enjoy or love the second half. This seems to apply to both the ENB and RB versions.

Really liked the Nutcracker, although i liked Act 2 far more than Act 1 - all those "rats" nearly the whole Act 1 irritaded me tbh
