Joanna Lumley would make a fabulous fairy! They need a young pop star for Dick - an ex One Direction guy? JLS? Blue? You get the idea. That would shift some tickets! I am surprised they have "re-used" some of last years cast to be honest. Will people pay up to £70 to see the same artists again? I would have preferred a brand new cast! Hopefully they will have a name for Dame. Missed the Dame character last year in Cinderella with no "proper" Ugly Sisters! Agree with this. I can stand John Barrowman but I would be so disappointed if they got the Krankies too - please no! I'm literally waiting for a Krankie announcement at another venue to know they won't be at the Palladium cos I booked the Palladium months ago! I thought Duncan James should be Dick but he's in Liverpool now. Hope there is a dame too - David Walliams would be fabulous but wouldn't do it. I think a Spice Girl would make a good fairy - Emma Bunton or Mel B? Also, there were some talks last year about the lack of diversity in the cast so do we think this year they will have diversity among the main cast? I think Alesha Dixon would make a great Fairy or Queen Rat

Apparently John Barrowman and The Krankies are always contracted on panto together, they won't do it separately! I'd love to see John's Dick again (HA!) but I can't bear to sit through another performance by the Krankies...I was kranky enough last time. Same, I saw all of Barrowman's pantos in Cardiff (never saw his Dick...but I'm sure plenty um...nevermind) but I can't stand the Krankies *shudder*

John Barrowman and The Krankies are doing Dick Whittington at Manchester Opera House, so it won't be them at the Palladium!

Well thank the lord Webber for that.....the Krankies I mean. I quite like the Barrowman. Met him once and he was lovely (and very, very tall!)

I saw Zerdin in two pantos in Birmingham in recent years (one with Clary) and then them together again at the Palladium last year, and it really was terrible how much of it was reused. Even the show in general, I reckon I'd seen 75% of it over the previous 3 years in Brum. I guess Qdos bank on the fact that most people won't watch pantos in multiple cities! Hopefully they will surprise us this year - Zerdin may well bring out one or two of his other puppets to join the fun, but I wouldn't be surprised if, as @theatremonkey says, we see the same basic material he's been using for the last 20 years! I agree. Even the silly song at the Palladium was the same as one I've heard before at Birmingham. Julian Clary and Nigel Havers seem to do panto together nearly every year. Like tomj, I hope they get some new cast members.

Well, it's not Lee Mead this year as he's just been announced as Jack in Southend. Along with Bobby Davro and the girl who couldn't be bothered to learn her lines last year in Milton Keynes.
So we are still looking for a Dick everybody.......

I admire anyone who can go on and do a show with or without a script with no rehearsal time at all.

Well, whilst she was earning money in the jungle, the rest of the cast were having to manage and rehearse without her. As for your statement about going on with no rehearsal, well I'm gobsmacked! She was not a last minute replacement, who might be forgiven for going on with a script. She was contracted months before. There is such a thing as an audience who pay to see a show and they are entitled to the best. That includes lines and tech stuff.

Inform yourself on both sides of the story before you slag a professional performer off please. The media do not always tell the truth. They want a story out of nothing and they make a story without knowing the whole story.

Yes Gary as the Dame. Saw him do two identical performances two years in a row at B'ham Hipp...he's very good but I'm expecting another identical performance this year!

Well Charlie will smile and dance his way through. I am one of the few that thought that was all to his performance in HAS. Certainly will not pay 100 pounds for him.

Yes GREAT casting! Booked! Elaine Paige - fabulous and Diversity will be HUGELY popular! The seat prices are astronomic though!

Diversity are the worst part for me personally. Talented guys, but their routines get old fast, and can be very long and are basically designed to just be filler for a show that will likely already be long.

This is pretty underwhelming casting and i cant see it exciting the general public. Especially disappointed in Elaine Paige, as much as i like her in musicals she is unproven in panto and the villain role is such a key role to get right for a panto

Oh dear I'm going to steer clear if Paige is involved. She's just so her silly laugh and be incredibly unfunny, whilst struggling to reach the notes. She'll be rehearsing Memory for it right now.

Agree 100%. He's a grinning chorus boy. Well Charlie will smile and dance his way through. I am one of the few that thought that was all to his performance in HAS. Certainly will not pay 100 pounds for him.
