Myself and @ryan are seeing the show on Saturday night (him for Elaine mainly, me for Charlie and Emma mainly haha!). Last years was fabulous, so I can't wait to see this one! I'm there too Oooh come say hello! No doubt we'll be somewhere near the bar at some point. Well I will at least. Making salacious Dick jokes of course. Daniel will be hunting down Emma Williams to tell her that she has been robbed of an Olivier award every time she's been nominated.

Must admit I'm mildly apprehensive. "Cinderella" had fairy castles surrounding the stage proscenium, "Jack and the Beanstalk" had a weaving Beanstalk design... shuddering to think what they may come up with for this one... Wonder no more http://instagr.am/p/BcfCLtdBuDV What an enormous sack. Well someone had to . . .

Well a big disappointment up to the interval. Only J Clary and Gary Wilmot arecworth watching. What on earth E Williams is doing in that dress I don’t know. And C Stemp is out of his depth with great big knee pads. perhaps part two will have more going for it. E.P is bravely sending herself up as though in Forbidden West End but provides a bit of relief. But to be fair all the innuendos are going down enormously well. Each to his own.

Second half still no story. Great for adults not children. G Wilmot does great *tube*number. Vent act just the same as last year. Ok if you wAnt all the old dick jokes one after the other. Tons of money thrown at some rather gaudy costumes. 6 put of ten mostly for Wilmot and Clary.

I too saw this last night and, after really enjoying Cinderella in 2016, I was hoping for more of the same. But it was really rather disappointing.
Julian Clary and Nigel Havers were great value, but the rest of it just came across as soulless.
I felt sorry for Gary Wilmot who was given such a small role as Dame (as were Dick and Alice) that it seemed hardly worth the effort. As the Dame is often the linchpin of a panto, this felt like a missed opportunity. Diversity seemed to be in a completely different show and I found Paul Zerdin's act repetition to be shameless. When I read earlier about it being the same act, I hadn't realised it meant nearly all the jokes were identical. Given they made a point of referring to last year's show (such as Nigel having a small part), it was simply wrong to charge £100+ a ticket and have him get away with doing it all over again; if it were a different venue etc., then fine. But this wasn't.
The sets and special effects were of the usual high standard for Qdos and the band sounded great, but they really ought to work on injecting some more heart into it.
Give me Berwick Kaler's 'rubbish' in York over this any day.
3/5

I still haven't managed to see Julian Clary's entrance. I've heard it's big and spectacular.

^ Oh I bet there are many who have over the years but nobody’s yet been brave enough to broadcast their opinions.

I just saw this...
The staff at the Palladium were asked to report back on any complaints about there being a bit too much Dick. None thus far apparently...

Wonder when they’ll confirm next year’s panto (I’m right in saying it was a three year deal wasn’t it?). I’m pretty sure Dick Whittington was announced very early in the Cinderella run last year because I more or less booked as soon as I had seen it.

Well according to the beginning of this thread baz announced dick Whittington 22nd Dec last year so guessing this week or next. Qdos have gradually been announcing their shows for 2018 over last couple of weeks, usually around the time the 2017 show opens
