Problem is George youre viewing it with Sheridan tinted glasses.the rest of us are doing so with a cynical view of how the marketing machine works. There may even have been an element of putting that press release out to try to force sheridans hand. Im intrigued by the fact that her people have said nothing since that statement

Here's how I perceived it...
The line saying "It is Sheridan's and the producer's intention that she will return to Funny Girl and any speculation to the contrary is entirely inaccurate and unhelpful" as to say they weren't just stringing people along and they are genuinely hoping she will be back. It isn't some ploy by them.
I think the whole "11th July" stuff was because they wanted to put something out there to stop speculation. I personally think this was a bad move. Sheridan will get better when she gets better, unless this is something a doctor has suggested??

Just got in the dayseat line for tonight, 20 people in front of me right now, no one behind me.
EDIT: By 10am, 4 others joined behind me. I managed to grab the last dayseat for both shows (I was buying for the evening) so now they are dotting the leftovers to the stalls. Though they are getting split up around the theatre as the only ones left, for the evening show anyway, are single seats.
It is what I love about the Savoy box office staff, never a bad experience, they do anything to get you in the show at a cheap price!

They must've changed then. When I last tried to speak to them a few years back, they were horrible. Online all the way for me.

Holy crap, Natasha is stunning! Her and Sheridan are equal in my eye, but Don't Rain On My Parade was breathtaking, she belted I and when she went for the last note, gave me a cheeky wink in the front row, felt like a proper "watch me now" moment and boy did she! Applause for Natasha when her name was announced, very responsive audience!

This show has certainly improved Natasha's career. She will get loads of job offers now!

Having seen both Sheridan and Natasha in the role, you can definitely see the differences and the similarities, but both are equally brilliant. Full standing ovation for Natasha. I love seeing an audience react to the facial hair gag in Act II,even though it is staged, it is still hilarious! Don't deny yourself the chance to see both and don't be let down if you only see Natasha, both are brilliant!

Natasha is better. She gets all the laughs Sheridan does- but she can >sing< it properly.

Fifth time seeing the show (one of those at the Menier) and I just love it, brought my friend who hadn't seen it before and they enjoyed it too. There's always something fun about sharing a show with a newbie!

Glad you enjoyed it again!

I saw the matinee of this yesterday (25th June). It was enjoyable, but overall I felt it lacked something.
The story itself feels very slight, and all characters, barring Fanny, are rather one-dimensional. I also felt that it was more than a little old-fashioned. For a show called FUNNY GIRL, it wasn't very funny.
Natasha J Barnes was good as Fanny (though I felt perhaps a little "shouty" at times). All other performances were just ok. Darius as Nick was very wooden.
The production itself was also just ok. I liked the moving stage, as it kept the pace of the show moving, and the set served its purpose. However, I wanted it to be a little more slick, with more energy. The first half of the show was a little flat, but picked up after that. It's a shame, as I have loved everything else that I have seen come from the Menier.
It would be interesting to see this again if Sheridan does come back, and see if it makes any major difference.
That being said, I would give it a solid 3 stars.

Shenton tweeted: 'Very curious about why funnygirl_UK has a prominent ad in today's @obsnewreview featuring @sheridansmith1. Is she back?' There ads still have Sheridan's name on it. I've seen the ad on buses, Internet, billboards etc. I don't think it means she's back, it's only 2 weeks until she is due anyway.

Also I was thinking, this thread is probably the longest on the whole board! What's going to happen when the show closes?! Ambulance for George22 I suspect.
