No I haven't thought of that, I thought it would be more convenient to send it via the Savoy? I don't even know who her agent is I wrote to Imelda at The Savoy and asked her to sign my programme and got a reply 6 months later and about 2 months after Gypsy finished. I guess she stored her fan mail up to work through when she had free time. She really is the best person ever. I love it when massive success and talent aligns with being a great and upstanding person. |

Do celebrities usually reply to mail if I just put me email or my house address or do I need to attach a stamped envelope too. We follow each other on Twitter too, I could just text her on that? I used to be a seasoned letter writter and you don't get a reply more often than not. Take it as an opportunity to tell her what you think of her but don't expect a reply. Life gets in the way. |

It's rather naff, but I'd do it! ( Or perhaps I have done...  ) I don't reckon anyone else has done it for her. I'm guessing Shirley Bassey.... |

Yes I will be in the Stallls, I love the stalls best! That sounds like a great idea!! Would love to do that and see her reaction! It probably won't happen though Again, why not? Do it! You'll get a thrill when she takes them! I thought you had more bottle than that, george! (And then you can thank your old uncle c  ) I would but..... i need to to try and sort everything out before I go! |

Sorry - I just wanted to say one thing - George, I once sent a fan letter to an actress, didn't get a reply, but met her at stage door two years later and when I mentioned a job I'd done (which I'd put in the letter) she turned and said "Did you once write me a letter?" and said how much the letter had meant and that she'd wanted to reply to it but had lost it.
So if you don't get a reply, and I really hope you do, don't be disheartened because it doesn't necessarily mean she didn't read it or didn't like it or didn't care.

Saw the show last night, I have to say Natasha is a star. I was worried as there has been so much good publicity she wouldn't live up to it.
She is totally at ease in the part, so believable and it doesn't come over as acting, more as if she is just living the role. Her voice has an ease to it and she has that rare ability of being able to laugh in the song or cry (which is called for) while still keeping all the tone and quality. I was surprised she hasn't had any real training, the quality of her voice is rare, but also the reach, I've seen many shows where the pros just couldn't send their voice out the way she did.
Her acting blew me away though, she was vulnerable and after reading a post above that said she wasn't so great at comedy, found her naturally funny last night and sometimes quite subtle with the comedy, but still funny. She just hits the emotional scenes though, but doesn't overdo them.
She received a standing ovation and as others have said, she's clearly overwhelmed by it, which actually brought a tear to my eye.
She'll be starring in something very soon, I believe and I'll be booking tickets to see her. I may see if I can manage another visit to FG.
The set, very simple, from photos I thought I wouldn't enjoy it because it looks quite drab, it really didn't matter one bit. She show is a gem that didn't need bells and whistles for me.
Little extras. For some reason the ushers kept on telling you as you walked in that you could not take any photos of the stage at any time, even beforehand, as it wasn't allowed. I did think it a strange rule as people have seen the stage and I know I've seen people tweet photos of it.
People arriving late ruined a big chunk of part one, being the first row of the second section, late arrivals, a huge party of them just walked right in front of us, then one woman came back down and started complaining to the usher that somebody else was in her seat and she wanted it back. Then another party came in and were in the front, so everyone could see them the whole time. I wonder how long before theatre's say if you are not in by the start we shut the door and your not allowed in? I'm actually thinking of calling somebody, it was that bad.
Lastly, Darius, god love him, can clearly not dance, as is obvious from his own number. However the staging is all wrong for the routine and it could be disguised a lot easier.
He needs to be brought downstage, another dancer needs to be added to make it four dancers and Darius, then he can be in the middle and the dancers either side can do the routine. As it stands he has two on on one side and one on the other, when he doesn't spin with the rest of them or do the same steps, he looks like he has just forgotten it and it looks awful. Just bring him out of the line and let the guys dance!

I know what you mean about Darius's dancing, emilyrose, but I actually find his awkwardness kind of endearing. Temporary Arrangement was cut from the original show and I'm not sure it was needed here.
Re Natasha's comedy I was trying to say that she has to work at it in a way that Sheridan does not - I didn't mean to imply that she's not funny, she is.

With the amount of press the show has had around the country I think it could do very well on a limited tour with Natasha in the lead. Only at the regular big venues but the show, and now Natasha, have name recognition.

I forgot to add, I'm actually not a fan of the film Funny Girl. I much preferred this show and Natasha as a complete performance. I think her and Darius pull off I am man a lot better for me. I find it a bit jarring and uncomfortable in the film.
I also would have loved to have her sing my man and a little gem for me, I'd rather be blue, I like that song quite a bit and her voice, I believe would have melted into it a treat.

Yes, it is a little endearing, I thought he did a great job. I just think the staging could help him out here. Like I said, if they want the dancers, all they need to do is bring him out of the line and add another guy. the look on his face too, when he misses the turn, it's quite priceless. Oh, I see, I misunderstood. Last night she seemed really natural with the comedy, and as I said, I enjoyed some subtle bits too. I'm undecided if I would like to see Sheridan, on one hand I would, on another Natasha has left such an imprint, I'm not sure if it's best left that way. Infofreak, it's strange isn't it? FG has one of the most basic stage set ups I've ever seen, I have no idea why they are saying that. But when I walked in she told me no selfies (people usually think I'm a teenager, I cannot stand selfies), so thought she meant during the show, so took a photo of the stage! Ooops! She didn't make it clear until a few more people were coming in and I could clearly hear her tell them about it being the stage. |

A set designer holds the copyright to the stage design, and some are more strict than others about how their designs are seen, and a quick phone snap posted on Twitter probably doesn't show it off in its best light.

You're not supposed to ever (bar a few exceptions) take photos of stage sets due to copyright, but some theatres enforce it more strictly than others.
Some theatres do shut the doors and refuse admission till the interval or some suitable break. The RSC once shut the doors literally on people's faces so they could start on time.

Oh, that's it then, just never had it enforced so strongly. i think they should do it across the board. It really spoiled a lot of the first half, even People, which was a real shame. I'm really thinking of calling them up as it made a big impact on the show, especially the latecomer then arguing about wanting her own seat back. I have no idea what people are thinking just coming in whenever they choose, then not just sitting anywhere. It's a real shame. |
