Why are people so precious over Smith? perhaps she's in the wrong profession Sadly yes, wasn't that impressed, she was OK as I stated when I commented after seeing it at the Menier. Sure as hell wouldn't put myself through a Sheridan show again anytime soon.

A family member went last night and said Natasha was excellent for the person that asked.
The thing is every time I type in 'Sheridan Smith' on Twitter it's ALL people tweeting her support/lambasting the press. I struggle to find one nasty tweet. The press are idiots but she's making it worse for herself by giving them something to report on. If she just turned up to work and carried on then they wouldn't have anything new to say. As someone said earlier she's having a meltdown from being accused of having a meltdown.

As is your choice. It's mine to want to see her because I thought she was terrific at the Menier, saw her 3 times there and admired her performance greatly.

The producers don't seem at all eager to come forward and clarify what "technical difficulties" are!
It's almost as though she actually was drunk that night, and now they're just fed up of covering for her.

In reply to Savoy Theatre Boop @tara_Wavre @savoytheatreldn how disappointing she has let everyone down again. What is your returns policy please? Truth Teller @fakerexposer 17m17 minutes ago @sarahbootsy333 @mrlukecooper @savoytheatreldn People spent hard earned money to see Sheridan- this is very disrespectful of her Gill Taylor @urmuvver 28m28 minutes ago @savoytheatreldn So unprofessional! You owe refunds to those who booked specially to see Sheriden Smith.

In her defence, one of her tweets on Monday referred to her father dying "have you're dad dying & pulled apart by the press...dick!" When that happened to me I gave up work and moved back to the Midlands for almost a year.

But, snutte, you said you were struggling to find one nasty tweet after specifically looking for them. I'd just read through the official twitter feed for the show and found those, and I wasn't looking for nasty tweets.

I said from typing in her name on Twitter and that's true if you type in her name, the vast, vast majority of the tweets are nice.

I've tickets for June, I actually have no preference as to who I want to see, I would like to see Sheridan to see what the fuss is about, however it sounds like Natasha is really taking on the role. So I don't mind. However, I do understand people being upset by it, especially as they offered tickets to the Savoy when she missed at the MCF. People are suggesting those who ask do not deserve the replacement tickets.

The fact that she is getting so defensive over the baftas but didn't do anything after the drunk rumours speaks volumes.
She is being so stupid, she is not the first actor to get supposedly caught on camera looking unimpressed at the results. If she'd just ignored it or laughed it off like most do then it would be forgotten by now. This over the top reaction is ridiculous.

All we need is a bit more positive press for Natasha's performance and I suspect we'll see Sheri back on stage 'toot sweet'!

I do get shocked by some people's insensitivity when she is very clearly suffering something internal that she can only express how she knows best, through the public eye. And clearly she is not getting the support she needs from within her camp if they are allowing her to do all of this freely. I hope she can pull through and return to triumph on that stage and am sure she will do. But she does need this rest time in order to do so. I'd say keep her out for the week and it will keep her healthy in the long run both mentally and physically.

Is... is *everyone* discounting the possibility that Sheridan Smith is unwell right now? She may not be doing herself any favours with her social media presence, and the timing is clearly suspicious to many, but people do get ill. Sometimes they are too physically unwell to do their job, sometimes they are too mentally unwell to do their job, and these are both entirely valid reasons why someone may not be able to do their job, but ranting on at the internet about how she's classless and over-sensitive and needs to do *this* and needs to do *that* isn't going to magically make anyone better. I hope she's getting whatever help she may need to get back up to full strength as quickly as possible, and that the more vocal dissenters never find themselves in a position where strangers on the internet are going to feel entitled to tear them to shreds over something they may or may not be able to help.

Why are people so precious over Smith? perhaps she's in the wrong profession If you think this is 'precious', you should check out the Sunset Boulevard thread. For some of us here family members with cancer and bullying are particularly sensitive topics. My experience of being bullied made me absolutely determined to speak up for other people when I see it happening to them. Not going to apologise for that. There are some really horrible people saying really disgusting things just in this thread, let alone on Twitter. Edit: And Baemax is right, she could very well have caught the same horrible virus that I've been battling for the last few weeks. It's been going around. I've been struggling along trying not to miss work but had to give up an take some time off because it just won't go. These things do tend to strike you when you're already feeling a bit low.

I'm surprised you aren't more careful about describing people as 'horrible', given your experiences.
Some people are sceptical, some are unsympathetic, some are critical, but I think I missed any who said, "I hate Sheridan, she deserves really nasty things and I hope she's suffering a lot".
Isn't it slightly arrogant to assume you have unique insight when it comes to having had bad things happen to you? Maybe some of us don't use such as crutches to our arguments?
Edit: and I think quite a few people who didn't believe the "technical difficulties" story have acknowledged she could be genuinely ill at present
(if true, let's hope she recovers soon)

Sorry but if she's too ill to be at work she's too ill to be going out of her way to find negative press and tweets and attending award shows. The whole thing seems extremely self involved and the whole reason people are talking about is because she herself won't let it drop. If she had kept a dignified silence the whole thing would have blown over. I agree... dependant on the illness. If she is struggling with mental health issues (as an example!) she may seek out the bad without knowing how much of an effect it is having on her. It is sometimes very difficult to remain dignified when you suffer from mental health issues or, in extreme cases, a mental breakdown where you lose control. Having suffered through two mental breakdowns in my life, I speak from experience when I say, it is very tough to worry about what is going on outside of your own little bubble and how people are perceiving you.

This thread is seriously getting nasty, so I'm ducking out before I bite back. When/if there's Sheridan *news* rather than speculation and rumour, I'll be back.

I've been struggling along trying not to miss work but had to give up an take some time off because it just won't go. These things do tend to strike you when you're already feeling a bit low. I think pretty much everyone will have had people they love taken from them by cancer at some point. I had my grandfather, who was like my father, who I lived with since birth die a horrible death with a very awful form of lung cancer which went to his brain. I was 16, had to do all of my GCSE's and had to not let down my stage school and perform for them in comps and shows. Other's I'm sure have had to hold down jobs that keeps a roof over their heads, puts the food on the table. Have to do their every day life and every day job. I was also bullied, I don't think that is what this is at all and I don't think anyone on here has said anything horrible actually. I think most here feel she needs help in one way or another, however she is making the situation much worse for herself by looking at twitter and replying in the way she has. Every celeb receives these sort of messages every day, they just don't all act like this. ETA, I doubt it is the same virus as you, mostly because the press picking up on something cannot be blamed for the fact she cannot perform, which she has already said.
