Saw this on Saturday, and loved it. Thought Sheridan was adorable and hilarious but also brilliantly heartbreaking. Supporting cast were also all brilliant. Darius was suitably dashing and charming (he elicited an audible gasp from the girl in front of me when he appeared)
It was the night of little things going wrong-one male dancer did half a number with a shoe hanging off early in the show and in the final scene with Darius Sheridan got her foot caught in her dressing gown and nearly went flying and then promptly lost the 'bling' bit of her wedding ring!
Lovely production, will be trying to see it in the West End.
Also praise for the Chocolate Factory restaurant for being lovely and making a bit of a fuss of my Mum for her 70th birthday meal, and for the glass of bubbly they gave us!

Saw this again on Sunday and loved it every bit as much as I did the first time round (early previews). Sheridan didn't put a foot wrong for me, I find her performance totally engaging, but she's just one of a really strong cast and I found myself watching throughout with a smile on face, even when an occasional tear was also rolling down my cheek.

Just spoke to Menier box office and said I couldn't make it and they have confirmed that it's fine to collect tickets from box office on the night with email confirmation, no card needed. So two tickets still available for final night at face value of £39.50 each if anyone's interested.

Out of this evenings performance. I previously caught the show on the second preview and I enjoyed it much more tonight. Sheridan has improved leaps and bounds imo and whilst People still sounds off due to not being Babs she ends the song strongly, really giving it her old at big end notes. Also got interviewed after the show, so watch out for the audience reaction trailer and my fangirling review may be featured. I could be the greatest star. I agree ger voice was much stronger that night. Sad that she didn't touch my knee this time while wearing her pantalooons!

Second viewing last night.
I just love this show. And I love Sheridan. She is a total perfect fit for this, and her acting ability is astonishing. To be singing Rat-a-tat-tat (complete with moustache falling off and Sheridan going sh*t, oh f***) and then not being able to sing much else of the song, to having your heart in her hands as shes weeping for Nick, and then BELTING Hey there gorgeous, here we go again!
I also realised how much of a dick Nick is (not just because Darius has the charisma of a cucumber) but because he says right at the end "we've both hurt each other real badly". - SHE DIDN'T DO ANYTHING BUT TRY AND HELP HIM.
Can't wait to see it again at the Savoy, and maybe chuck in a 4th visit. This show just gets better and better.

Wowsers SS in act 1 was like a 14 year doing all Catherine Tate characters all in one go - exhausting to watch and not very likeable. Not classy like Babs in the film but maybe accurate? But then act two was just wonderful and I totally fell in love with her the piece
Great score and fabulous production. I even liked Darius Campbell, so handsome and no longer acting like a plank of wood. The classiest looking production in that tiny theatre. I really want to see it in the West End

Did Fanny Brice behave like that both on and off stage ?

Was anyone here at last night's performance, I've heard Sheridan was behaving strangely and bursting into tears at random times throughout the show?

Sheridan tweeted this 10 hours ago
"U know when u suddenly realise U're just a puppet! A porn in someone's game.Devastated. Tears, sweat & blood for......nothing. Except u guys"
Has she just broken up with someone and then performed?

I was It went up 15 minutes late due to lighting problems - didn't spot anything My mum though SS was drunk. I thought she was in character First time I've seen so I don't know how it compares but it was slightly odd - see my earlier post

I'm sorry, I like Sheridan Smith but this whole The Sun-level drama queen stuff as though she's from some Channel 5 reality show is really getting to annoy me now and is threatening to overshadow her most excellent body of work. I guess she means 'pawn' too. Unless there's a video that will definitely be NSFW that's about to come out!!

She did later correct herself saying she meant 'pawn', so nothing NSFW as yet

I saw this on Wednesday Night. I adored it - Sheridan was simply stunning. I must admit she sounded a little bit tired in some of the songs - particularly in People. She sounded much stronger in Legally Blonde. However, when she was in full belt she was fab and it didn't really take away from the performance. She is up there with Imelda for me.

Saw this last night. Went with almost no prior knowledge of the show, so I have no points of reference or comparison.
I thought that Sheridan Smith gave the most astonishing performance. She was so engaging. Fantastic comic-timing, as ever. But also totally believable in the emotional scenes. And I she did a cracking job with the singing. Nice tone during People.
This certainly isn't a criticism, but she seemed very emotional a lot of the time. In act 2, she seemed to be really sobbing at a couple of points. A lot of tears at curtain call. I couldn't work out whether that was her typical portrayal? It made for quite an intense experience...

She was like that on Friday night - is that a normal FG performance for her?

She was also like that when I saw it New Year's Eve. Chatted after with a friend who's in the show and we were talking about how much emotion she puts into the show and she said there has only been one performance (at the time) where Sheridan hasn't cried, she said she just wasn't feeling it. Other than that, she cries every single performance.

I too was there last night and for me personally witnessed one of the most amazing performances I've had the pleasure of seeing on stage. I'm sure I'll face some backlash but for me Sheridan Smith put in a performance that is up there with Imelda's Gypsy. Having never seen the film I went in blind apart knowing the 2 most well known songs. I was captivated from start to end and the time just flew by. Also liked that I got given the title to hold. The whole cast is great and are putting their all into it on what was a 2 show day with very little time between. Darius has a great voice and I think his acting worked well as the charming lothario. As previously mentioned Sheridan did appear very emotional especially during the curtain call. Maybe we are all reading too much into it. She seemed genuinely touched and humbled at the standing ovation she received. As much as I would love to see this again I can't help but feel something will be lost in its transfer to the Savoy. Was worth staying up to midnight to get the tickets and is an experience I will remember for a very long time. Well done to the Menier for another great show.
