Saw the matinee again today. I just adore this show! Little appearance from Sonia Freidman in the box also. Darius was off but Matthew Goodgame gave a brilliant performance, I would say I preferred Darius for the acting parts and Matthew for singing. His temporary arrangement gave me chills. I am a big sheridan fan so was thrilled to see her again and she was on top form, seemed really happy and thankful for the standing ovation, no tears like last time. And can confirm she sang 'my hearts a drummer'. Whether the recording is a mistake or on purpose we will never know I suppose. The absolute star of the show in my eyes is joel Montague. Definately one of my favourite discoveries this year. I was worried he would be rehearsing school of rock so thrilled I got to see his Eddie again. Can't wait to catch him as Dewey.

Dayseated today, arrived at 9:30 and had the last two. I enjoyed the show, but I was hoping it might get a bit darker and dramatically 'meatier', a bit like the final scenes of Gypsy. And because of that I felt there was a lot going on which didn't add that much in a plot sense. That said, Natasha was amazing and the second cover Nic was on; also fantastic. Both had very good chemistry. I don't know if there are normally issues at Funny Girl but there were a few moments in Act 1 when the mics were cutting out, but being front row this wasn't a problem. Also Natasha's moustache fell off in Act 2. I didn't know if this was planned, but the audience loved it and she turned it to a monobrowe, getting audience applause, and just by looking at her facial expressions and laughing in this scene you could just tell she loves what she's doing, and that's great to see. I won't be revisiting, but I might listen to a few preview clips to hear Sheridan as I imagine she can 'act' the part amazingly, but Natsha's voice, and especially her 'Greatest Star of All' and 'Don't rain on my parade' were mesmerising.

Both times I've seen it, Fanny's tache was falling off, so I assume it done deliberately for comic effect, just like the dildo in Toxic Avenger.

You don't understand my post? Why she is playing the role on tour? What?

I mean I genuinely thought there was 0% chance of this.

I'm unsure how to feel about this. Although I'm a Sheridan supporter I was looking forward to seeing a different take on the role. Still, at least its not Sarah Harding.

Go Sheridan. Hope it doesn't push prices up.

Really surprised by this.....not my choice for sure. Crossing fingers that Natasha does the other dates. If she doesn't have something else lined up by then.

Booked second row for it in Cardiff a few days ago actually; picked the right time, I guess. Looking forward to seeing Sheridan's spin on the role since I didn't get the chance to see it in London.

Yes, I am surprised at this news too. I would have thought Sheridan would have preferred to get back to TV work which is less "exposed" to the public. I cannot believe no other work was on the table. Touring is tough. It seems like she is doing 12 dates so 12 weeks? Not too long I suppose. Great news for the producers who must have "persuaded" her. It guarantees a bumper box office!

Well that's a surprise but a very nice one. Those tickets are going to sell like hot cakes. Hope a lot of the cast will go along too.

Wales Millennium Centre website has prominently displayed, at the top of the show front page:
"Sheridan Smith will not be performing the role of Fanny Brice at the Wednesday matinee performance. The producers of Funny Girl cannot guarantee the appearance of any particular artist, which is always subject to illness and holidays."

I think she probably wanted to go all guns blazing to save face nationwide after the 'rumours'.

I think she wants to prove she is still at the top of her game... this show is stunning with her (and Natasha) and whilst I am thrilled, I just hope she isn't pushing herself too hard. But I'm thrilled for her and the production!

With Sheridan, Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart all touring recently hopefully more stars will consider taking shows on the road.

No one saw that coming did they. I would have liked to see Natasha's take on it but the rest of my group will be delighted to see Sheridan's Fanny in Manchester I'm sure.

Maybe Sheridan just wanted to tour with it for a little bit? New challenge and all that jazz!
