I think westendwendy was talking about hiring for theatre where a run of any length is needed. Sheridan will now be regarded as a risk for that. Exactly!!!

What a total mess. No one will hire Sheridan ever again! Not really. I would most certainly hire Sheridan again. She is an absolutely incredible actress and singer and the public want to see her thus ticket sales. I've already "cast" her in one of my productions I'm hoping to produce when I am older. She is a great performer. I dont know if Funny Girl would've sold out most nights of Sheridan was in the cast...

I'm sure she will have no trouble getting television work in the future but I do agree that I think theatre producers will be far more hesitant to cast her in future stage productions. Not to say it will never happen again, but I doubt she'll be someone producers are desperate to hire again. Although Funny Girl undoubtedly sold a large number of tickets due to her involvement, these same people may not be so eager to buy in the future knowing her record of absence in recent times.

But up until now hasn't she had a decent track record with her attendance on stage? She's done a fair few stage shows in the past & I don't remember hearing anything about her being unreliable. Assuming all this is due to her current situation with her father's health etc that once she gets past all this she'll be able to start over. Maybe not on this show but I can't see why it would stop people hiring her going forward.

Yes, but there's no guarantee that there wont be another issue in her personal life in the future and the likelihood is that she would be just as sensitive to it and probably need to take a great deal of time off again. There are other performers who have had personal tragedies when they have been in shows but haven't caused such a disruption to the production (I'm NOT blaming Sheridan for this, just stating the facts). Let's not forget she also had some harsh words for the producers on Twitter during the Menier run. As I said, I'm not suggesting she wont be hired in the theatre again but I just can't imagine the producers being as eager as I'm sure they were to hire her in Funny Girl, nor the audiences as eager to buy tickets. Both will surely be taking the past few months into consideration before doing so.

Yeah so I think if it was true about Samantha then Baz would've confirmed it?

Stage is high but totally worth it for the price and the show.

To be fair, I'm surprised no news regarding Sheridan was announced today

To be fair, I'm surprised no news regarding Sheridan was announced today I don't think she will be back until the full 4 weeks are over. If we are going from May 12, when the announcement was initially made regarding Sheridan taking time off, then the 4 weeks will be the week beginning June 6. I don't think she will be announced as returning either. I think she will just return.

With the amount of press there, should she come back, I believe she will have to practise and make sure she is back to being up to it before she performs in the role again. So no doubt the press will be a tip off, if she's seen there a few times, then she will be coming back soon, if she's not seen there, I don't think you will see her any time soon.

People were emailed for her planned time off weren't they? So surely if she isn't gonna be back after the 4 weeks they will need to email more people?

Well they can't force her to return. They might say not to come back if she asks for more time off though, I'm not sure.

I doubt there will a formal announcement if she is back as it will just lead to swarms of paps descending on the theatre.

I think we've all established they are unlikely to make an announcement if she comes back. Can we move on from will they/won't they perhaps?!
