Sounds more like Cilla than she did when she was impersonating Cilla Sorry but but I don't think the star quality you get of seeing SS on stage comes across on this at all. In fact I don't think she sounds very good. Sorry!

Am having one last trip to Funny Girl the day the cast recording comes out. Giving Sheridan a few weeks to settle in and then will pop along. Mainly so my friend (who booked for May and got Natasha) can finally see Sheridan. Exciting times ahead - she sounds great on the preview of the album!

Is it just me or does the orchestra sound very flat ?

I'd usually relish the opportunity to buy a cast recording of a cast I'd actually seen (after starting my interest in musicals listening to cast recordings made years or even decades earlier, with casts I'd never see), but I have no real interest in this one. It was a good night out at the Menier, but I wasn't particularly impressed with any of the songs and I can't imagine wanting to listen to them again.

Is it just me or does the orchestra sound very flat ? There's an orchestra? I thought it was just Sheridan and her Bontempi organ. I was half waiting for the moment she turned on the bossa nova beat for the big finish in 'Don't Rain On My Parade'.

If you've been to see Natasha it's difficult... Listening to this, to not think about how great her voice is . I would've loved if they'd given a bonus track to her.

Just booked a cheap ticket back of stalls to see it (hopefully, barring illness) with Sheridan on 28th September.
Anyone sat Row S of the stalls...assuming it is quite far from the stage, but if I remember correctly I wont miss anything as nothing happens at the top of the stage.

I have sat there before and it's a great view, you won't miss anything and you'll still feel reasonably close to the action

Despite being keen to own this recording ever since the announcement, listening to those three clips leaves me feeling a little empty. It really sounds unauthentic - particularly when Darius delivers his line at the same time as Sheridan, you can really hear that they've recorded seperately and then been layered (I know this can be standard practice but it really shouldn't be so obvious). Rain on my Parade sounds very flat. Like, very.

I'm quite the opposite, I've never once bought a cast recording and, like you said, take it as a nice night out and no need to listen to it. Having seen Natasha, I really wanted to have one of hers as I wished I could listen to her voice on a regular occurrence. She has such a beautiful tone and quality in those songs, it was something else and would love to listen to them again.

There's the lack of the quality that Natasha just has, it sounds very flat and off key and, well I'm sorry Sheridan fans, but this sounds quite bad, like an average attempt that you get at amateur dance comps in the song and dance sections. I'm sorry. Her accent also sounds quite off there too. I think she was right to start with, to refuse a cast recording.

Time to delete the cast recording from "Saved for later" on Amazon. It's so far short of Natasha's level, I'm actually quite shocked how bad it is.

After hearing the stark contrast in their voices, I will be shocked if Sheridan gets the Oliver nod and Natasha doesn't. Especially as this is the best they could get, with retakes and editing. It's not as if Natasha doesn't give a brilliantly acted performance too.

I have to agree with the above - it's one of my all time favourite scores - but this sounds horrible. Flat and when compared, Natasha's vocals are far superior to Sheridan. Disappointing - Won't be buying this album.

The music is not generally to my taste, so I wouldn't be buying the album, but I don't dislike Sheridan's singing at all. Seems to me she's clearly acting through the song. There's certainly more personality coming through in her performance.
Natasha sounds like a trained MT performer (though I know she said she has no formal training). By that I mean a rounded, professional sound but she's got that slightly blare-y quality I find rather annoying, but that I know goes down well with a lot of MT audiences. Fair enough - you pays your money, you takes your choice...

Having seen Natasha live and having not only watched a lot of musical theatre, but trained in it and taught in it, I have to completely disagree. Natasha's voice is quite unique and very unlike those who come out of training and all have a very similar quality to their voices.

Oh dear. Imagine what people in NYC are gonna think of us stupid Brits when they hear that?!
Like a bag of spanners being thrown down the stairs.
It's coming off my Amazon wish list right now.

Ah well, I'm afraid she sounds MT twangy to me at times. Might just be that song though! Also - that "faaahnd aaaat" sounds more Ray Winstone than American...

So she Sheridan has been back for several days, so how does she weigh up as Natasha's understudy?

I wonder how Natasha feels being back in the ensemble Its what she signed up for, I doubt she feels a massive issue. Initially there was never even a guarantee she would go on as Fanny, so she knew what she was doing.

She's said she has been receiving lots of work offers since having her moment in the spotlight so I'm sure she'll be fine.. Plus she's officially doing Monday nights which is something
