So me and my boyfriend are currently sitting trying to agree on the most emotional MT lyrics. Some of our suggestions are; "If i didn't believe in you, i wouldn't have loved you at all" - The last Five Years "Sometimes people leave you halfway through the wood. Do not let it grieve you. No one leaves for good, you are not alone, no one is alone." - Into The Woods "No day but today" - Rent in particular the ending to Finale B
Any opinions are welcomed!!

"The choice may have been mistaken, the choosing was not" moves me every time.

'As long as we're alive, you're never on your own.' - In The Heights. Don't know why that gets me so much.

Back to before - ragtime.
"You were my sky My moon and my stars and my ocean We can never go back to before We can never go back to before".....
As someone who lost their partner three years ago aged just 37 that lyric says everything to me... I sobbed for months listening to that song.....

"And I will have missed you growing and I'll have missed you crying and I'll have missed you laugh". In fact all of The Letter from Billy Elliot. Every. Damn. Time.

Should we meet again I will not recognise your name You can be sure what's gone before Will be concealed Your friends will never learn That once we were on easy terms
From 'Easy Terms' (Blood Brothers). In fact the whole song is desperately sad, but that verse is the one that really gets me for some reason.

Have almost cried my face off at Falsettos last week, I have to go with "How am I to face tomorrow, after being screwed out of today?"

Sunset Boulevard 'They don't recognise a star' but because The Dame can't stop fiddling with himself it's not actually in the show anymore. Campest thread ever btw

There are a few songs that I have sobbed to many times:
"It well may be That we will never meet again In this lifetime So let me say before we part So much of me Is made of what I learned from you You'll be with me Like a handprint on my heart"
*********************
"You eat your lunch a year is gone. You go to bed ten years are gone. Then you wake up and wonder where is it hiding? Where did it go? I don't understand. The life I had wanted, the life I was promised, the life I had planned."
********************
I wanted to pick a line from 'Not a Day Goes By' too, but to be honest the whole song is so tragic.

The end of The Light In The Piazza....
Love if you can And be loved May it last forever.....
And not very PC I know but from Carousel....
Common sense may tell you That the ending will be sad, And now's the time to break and run away. But what's the use of wond'ring If the ending will be sad? He's your feller and you love him, There's nothing more to say.

"And I just want my mother back " [Whistle Down the Wind.] Oh, you just reminded me of another one! "The loneliest words you'll ever know If only-if only it was so" Haven't thought about that song for ages and how much I loved it when I first heard it. Poor Man.

Loving you is not a choice it's who I am Loving you is not a choice And not much reason to rejoice
But it gives me purpose Gives me voice to say to the world This is why I live, you are why I live
Loving you Is why I do the things I do Loving you Is not in my control
But loving you I have a goal For what's left of my life I will live and I will die for you

Somebody crowd me with love Somebody force me to care Somebody make me come through I'll always be there Frightened as you to help us survive, Being alive, being alive, being alive, being alive.
From Company, of course. It's not at all strange that many of the lyrics quoted are Sondheim.

Children and art from Sunday in the park with george always makes me a bit emotional. Sondheim is a genius of emotional songs.
[[Marie]] You would have liked him Mama, you would Mama, he makes things Mama, they're good Just as you said from the start Children and art Children and art
He should be happy Mama, he's blue What do I do?

Hearts grow hard On a windy street Lips grow cold With the rent to meet So if you kiss me If we touch Warning's fair I don't care very much
I don't care much Go or stay I don't care very much Either way
Kander/Ebb = genius.

Definitely
You'll be with me, Like a handprint on my heart"
Have I mentioned today, how lucky I am, to be in love with you?
Who dare tell the lambs in spring what fate the later seasons bring?
Stop worrying where you're going. Move on. If you can know where you're going, you've already gone. Just keep moving on.
Don't you know what's out there in the world? Someone has to shield you from the world. Stay with me. Princes wait there in the world, it's true. Princes, yes, but wolves and humans, too. Stay at home. I am home. Who out there could love you more than I? What out there that I cannot supply? Stay with me. Stay with me, The world is dark and wild. Stay a child while you can be a child. With me

I think I'd definitely go with 'you'll be with me like a handprint on my heart' it formed part of my eulogy letter to my mum last year. It made me smile though when sorting through her things recently to find an actual salvation army heart with a tiny handprint on. It's now one of my most treasured possessions.

Hey, you're allowed to move on. It's okay. Because I'll be here Even if you decide to get rid of my favorite sweater. Even if you go out on my birthday This year instead of staying at home letting all of life's moments pass by. (Ordinary Days). I was also a sobbing wreck by this point of the song. So many! I do cry at the theatre all the time

The movie plays and plays I'll find my true romance He takes me to a place Where I don't have to dance
I really liked this lyric, which they changed since the original Miss Saigon. The bit about ice-cream always grated and diminished the song for me. But with the new lyrics this is the line that really got me. I really felt Gigi's longing to be saved from the misery of having to sell herself....
