Any shows going to be affected by this tonight?

I'd hate to be the person who booked for Harry Potter like 15 months ago and now it's cancelled because of a blackout.

So there's a blackout in London. Any shows going to be affected by this tonight? Anything around Soho/Old Compton Street/Leicester Square/Piccadilly Circus & Shaftesbury Avenue if they don't get power back in time! For reference, a cast member of Beautiful has said the Aldwych isn't affected & a member of public have seen Harry Potter & Les Mis in complete darkness! Very weird seeing pics of the Piccadilly Circus massive advert board completely dark!

What a bugger if Harry Potter can't go on. These people will have seen Part 1, so when on earth would they see Part 2 seeing as it's sold out until 2018.......

LondonTheatreDirect seem to think that all shows are currently scheduled to perform as normal according to their twitter, but oh my goodness yes that'd be awful for the Potters!! Advice on twitter is to contact the theatre directly if you're seeing a show.......not sure how if they've not go power!
But it could be a pretty close call:

Well, they do but its not the same sort

Although I suppose the chance of someone sitting in a pitch dark box office waiting for the phone to ring is fairly limited.

But it could be a pretty close call: Most shows have a good two hours of setting up to do each day, some could be done with torches etc but sound, lighting, automation switch on and checks can't be done without power. Pity the poor technical teams who are going to be under a lot of pressure if they get power back by 7.

Didn't Gypsy use backup generators when the power went down due to the fire in Holborn

Was at the 5pm show of Murder Ballad. Lots of lights flashed and flickered about 15 minutes in and then it was all in darkness. Booked for Side Show tonight so wasn't worth me hanging round any longer but when I left they were hoping the 8pm might go ahead, I don't think it looked promising though.

Judging by Twitter, lights are back on at the Palace and they've moved the start time to 8:30.

I'm doubtful Cursed Child will go ahead, I'd hate to be the producers right now because it's a situation beyond their control. This is probably exactly why they are telling the audience to head there and hope. I'd imagine they will want to go ahead, no matter how late. However I suspect they'll face a lot of demands for help with getting home after if they do decide to go ahead significantly later. Luckily automation isn't a massive thing for HP, although they'd still have to do a lot of rig checking to be confident. Potentially that can be done when the audience is coming in behind the safety curtain, but that's risking it. We'll see. Is the Shaftesbury Theatre or Wyndhams/Noel Coward affected? Don't know the parameters of the blackout.

True. I imagine there may be a couple of calls for refunds owing to the time if they do start at 8.30, hard to tell.
I guess they can't even really reduce interval by much - a full house takes a while to go to the loos!

Power must be coming back on, as Thriller have changed their mind and are now starting at 8.30pm. Cursed Child starting at 8.30pm too. I would expect there will be quite a few people having to leave before the end to catch last trains.
Also, I wonder what the ticket/refund situation will be with Thriller? If you'd read their original statement that it was cancelled, given up and set off home, then seen it wasn't cancelled after all and going to start late, but you'd gone too far too turn back? Sorry, that sounds garbled, but I hope it makes some sort of sense!

I guess Aladdin, Curious Incident aren't going ahead. I guess Aladdin being very technical means it couldn't really reverse course, I wonder if Peter Pan Goes Wrong is still going ahead as that's a short show

Both The Comedy about a Bank Robbery and Peter Pan Goes Wrong have been cancelled - according to individual sources on twitter.

Thriller now back to cancelled again... (their Twitter account 2 minutes ago). I must admit watching them change their mind over and over again is infinitely more fun than I had when I saw it.. I'm mentally picturing the Noises Off 'the show will start in two minutes, one minute, three minutes' bit - but with an entire audience stumbling in and out as the show says it's starting and cancelling again.

O dear. Yes, Noises Off comes to mind. Hope nothing sinister but just usual incompetence.
