Was the rumours of a documentary being filmed about this production, or did I imagine it? NT Live seems highly unlikely now, no?... There was rumour of the recording of it being recorded (if you see what I mean) and a kind of mini documentary there...perhaps being put online or similar in line with the CD release? NT live won't happen now, possibly related to the rights for it or the agreement with Sondheim for the gender flip? or the NT went 'Nah Marianne we've got enough of your nonsense on NT Live by now'

Regarding Furth and a broadcast of this, the script will soon be published I'm guessing the rights will become available for this version to be performed.
Although I guess Broadway will be given the option before it is released to Goole Rep and the Pie Crust players.
Perhaps no NT live as the Beeb are interested in filming it

Finally got to see this last night and was utterly blown away! I've always enjoyed Company but this production was something else entirely. I felt that it worked so much better with Bobbie instead of Bobby.

I have not been as excited for a forthcoming music release as I am currently for this Company Cast Recording for a very long time. 2 sleeps!

I saw this last night and enjoyed it, but wasnt blown away like everyone else seems to be. It's not my favourite Sondheim show by any stretch, but i thought what Marianne achevied was excellent. The staging, the clear story telling, bringing it all together into a cohesive piece. It had a great flow to it and i felt that had been missing from other productions i've seen of it (this was my 4th Company)
Rosalie Craig carried the show very well and i really enjoyed her Being Alive, although i wished they would turn her mic up throughout the whole show. Patti was, well.... Patti.... Unfortunately i was distracted during Marry Me A Little, when an audience member passed out on her way through a side door. I hope she is feeling better today!
I dont get all the raves for Jonathan Baily. To me it was just hammed up for laughs, but yet certain people around me laughed VERY loudly.
2 things i took away from the production - you get a nicer class of people at a Sondheim show and I want to go clubbing with Ben Lewis (who i wish had more to do in the show)

I dont get all the raves for Jonathan Baily. To me it was just hammed up for laughs, Well it's a piece of ham I'd wouldn't mind a slice of to slather in a condiment and shove between my two slices. Fnar.

Has anyone stage doored for this? What’s it like? Crazier than you would expect for a show that normally attracts a more mature audience. Lots of teens when I went, the kind of fans you would expect to be at the Apollo Victoria or at the TRH when Heathers was on.

quick question, I've just retrieved my programme and inside it states that Not getting married today is sung by Jamie, Paul and Susan. However when I went to see the show it definitely wasn't Daisy Maywood who plays Susan singing all the "bless this day" sections. Is this a misprint or does she normally pop out of the fridge etc? No, I'm pretty sure it's Daisy Maywood as the priest, jesus creepers in tow. Ah well Daisy was in it the day I saw it (8th October) and was playing Susan but the wedding priest was played by a black actress... so for some reason was it Jennifer??

Granted, it's three months since I saw it, but it was definitely Daisy Maywood at the performance I saw, and in the script that part is played by the actor who plays Susan.
Daisy was in the show when I saw it but it was a black actress playing the priest. wonder what was happening then that day, granted I did go when it was still in previews.

Very curious to know why that is....

Possibly Mel and her Bake Off fame - the show does attract quite a portion of younger viewers. I went to the stage door on my second visit (Nov/Dec) and the fans were more subdued when Jonathan and Patti came out (although more did get in line for a quick scrawl from LuPone).

Also the two times I saw this early in the run there were quite a few younger people there but many of them seemed to me musical theatre students as they were all pretty, fit and had an air of confidence. Oh and the boys were quite camp 😁

Oh and the boys were quite camp 😁 I got that impression from some of the people sat round me from their discussions. It sounded like perhaps they were drama/musical theatre students who had done it at school or college and that's why they were going to see it.

Oh cool. I don't watch Bake Off, but I've always envisaged it as a very middle aged (and middle class) show...
I've loved Mel since the Light Lunch days! I went to see it filmed on a couple of occasions.

Very curious to see what people think about “Not Getting Married Today”. I’m not sure if it is because he has toned it down on the recording or it doesn’t work as well without the acting visuals but I’m not convinced it has perfectly translated to this audio recording. But so far, very very good. Orchestra sounds a little thinner than I remember but tbh I am used to the OBC.
