Well I finally saw this tonight. I'm too tired now to post much but what I will say is that it's probably the most perfect piece of theatre I've ever seen. I can't tell you how much I loved it and the spectacular cast. If only theatre could be this good every time!

I managed to get a rush ticket to the matinee today. Really loved it, great characters, great set (loved her red dress against the very plain colours of the set). As a single woman in my 30s it was a tad depressing! Rosalie is fantastic, I was a bit sad her songs are quite dull compared to the others. Anyway, that's my mishmash of thoughts.

Hearing rumblings that an NT Live announcement might be on the way for this...

So thanks to the advice from this board I’ve finally booked in for my first west end show! Front row of the grand circle for £19.50, really looking forward to it. Huge thanks to everybody here who’s posted their experiences with seats and more importantly how much they loved the show, you managed to persuade me at least!

Saw it tonight. LOVED IT. Staging is so inventive and rich and surprising.
I booked this, it must have been about a year ago? Got £25 Dress Circle slips and they were great. Super close and this show rewards a close viewing.

Finally got myself tickets to go see this in January. Can't believe I resisted this long!

Points to Delfont Mac for super painless ticket exchange for this- and the guy I spoke to helped me get a performance where my ticket could be “traded up” for a better seat. So I now have a cheeky midweek matinee in January. I’ll drink to that!

I forgot to say last night an understudy, Grant Neal, was on for Harry (? the one who smokes the joint) and did a fantastic job. I gathered it wasn't planned he would be on that night and the complexity of the 'Side by Side' number alone would be so daunting. He was obviously someone who really prepared and he looked delighted at the curtain call.
I didn't find anything in this dull. Some of the changes improved the piece and some worked a little less well (Joanna's 'offer' at the end, for example) but the staging was magnificent. Endlessly inventive but not just for inventiveness' sake but also to mine new ideas (section where Bobby imagines all the different futures/relationships she could have, for example.)
Would like to see it again.

I think the problem is that her interpretation is more introspective and less obviously passionate than many others. Those expecting loads of 'angst' would probably find this less satisfying in comparison.

Throwing my 2c in, Craig's Being Alive has been a resident earworm for the past fortnight. I agree that it is quite an introspective interpretation but I feel that it works in this revision of the show as it's a reflection of her character throughout.

Works for me as well. But very different from other interpretations which can sometimes build up to a feeling of anguish/despair.

Some seats in mid dress circle are going for £35 (40% off). I'm tempted to pick some up for my second visit or should I hold out for cheaper day seats or rush tickets? What kind of luck have people been getting on mid-week evening shows?

What kind of luck have people been getting on mid-week evening shows? I went last Wednesday, I booked a front row rush ticket with TodayTix. I logged into the app at 10.07, I got the normal "other users baskets" message, refreshed a few times, and got the seat. I don't think it's hard to get rush seats anymore, I had managed to grab them a few times before but I didn't like the seat.

Cast Album recording has started today. Very much looking forward to the doc. Wonder how revealing it will be.... If there will be a repeat of the 'Ladies who Lunch'-saga with LuPone replacing Stritch going through many many takes and Sondheim in the background getting more angsty and reactive. Hope they have a camera on him for the duration.
Edit: Cant make that penultimate sentence make sense, hopefully you can interpret it successfully.

What kind of luck have people been getting on mid-week evening shows? I think £35 for dress circle is a good price. I've got today tix rush twice. 1st time stalls R and 2nd time stalls P. But failed to get a seat on many more occasions.

I saw it on Tuesday night and I’ll keep it short and sweet, because so many things were already said that I don’t want to repeat what others said. This is probably the best piece of theatre I have ever seen. It has everything: a fantastic cast, great direction, neon, Patti LuPone, gay couple represented on stage, abs, breath-taking staging and choreography of “Tick-Tock”. It’s witty, it’s sad, it’s funny. I really hope I’ll get to see it again in February and that the previously mentioned rumours about NTLive would be a true blessing.

Oh to be a fly on the wall for the recording. I was semi-expecting some behind the scenes instagram stories.

We saw it Thursday and really enjoyed it, although I did have to give my husband a dig in the ribs on a couple of the quieter numbers. He not quite as avid a musical theatre fan as me. ;-)

Saw this on Saturday and adored it. What a pure joy to watch and not a weak link in the cast in my opinion.

Wondering if theatremadness got to see this yet - and their thoughts - given they started this thread with some excitement, but they don't seem to have logged on in quite a while... Hope all is ok.
