Are we all assuming that Ms LuPone will be extending?! I assume so. Especially if it was in their initial contract and if they have been told this is it. O viously there may be yet another extension if the show does well, but I imagine Patti will stay for this extension at least.

The view is amazing from the Dress slips for this show! Although daniel has looked and told me apparently the slips aren't on sale or if so, are sold out. I sat in one of the dress circle slips seats for Company last week. For £25 they're excellent value; for £55 maybe not such a great buy. Interesting Well, I still consider myself happy about the bargain and look forward to see it from there.

Instagram stories for live updates on the red carpet for opening night. Craig Revel Horwood is in the house — hope he’s got his notepad with him for notes on how a show should be.

So I don't understand. Press night was last night, but Shenton tweeted that reviews are embargoed until 11:30 tonight. Why? Why not just release the reviews following the performance like most shows? I guess it means that reviews should be in all the (at least those that still review theatre) papers on Thursday, rather than just the later editions if the reviews were out today.

This is normally done so that the reviews come out AFTER the Gala/Celebrity Evening audience (tonight) has seen the show. If the reviews are bad, they don't want their special guests reading these and backing out. (Especially if they're funding the show in some cases for productions). Of course, they're not going to be bad for this production though.

Oh my god Elaine and Patti under the same roof! I’ve always imagined them absolutely not getting along, don’t know why.

Oh my god Elaine and Patti under the same roof! I’ve always imagined them absolutely not getting along, don’t know why. I'm sure I recall reading about how Elaine became a producer on the West End transfer of Anything Goes so she could get the lead and they wouldn't bring over Lupone.

Yes I heard that too, and then of course there was the fact that Elaine couldn’t go to Broadway with Evita and the public fell in love with Patti but then also the British creatives kept telling her “Elaine did it like this” etc. Also I believe I read that ALW said something like “Elaine sings As If We Never Said Goodbye the best out of everyone who’s been Norma” which I can imagine as the final nail in the coffin for Ms LuPone!!

I don't think Patti would have given another year to Anything Goes bringing it to London after losing the Tony to Joanna Gleason, so it was never going to happen without Elaine as star/producer. Maybe EP could take over as Joanne next year.....just kidding.

No one has seen him but Rosalie Craig has heard him singing to her in her dressing room.

I'm actually fairly surprised none of us picked up on the extension when nothing had been announced for January 2019 at the theatre. I know Mackintosh is looking to refurb all his theatres, but even then it would of been announced surely? I do wonder if, come January 2019, if it hasn't been announced, we could see Company extend yet again? Though I do suspect that come the six month mark, which would be this new extension, then we will start seeing replacements, and I would imagine the four on the poster (Rosalie, Patti, Mel and Jonathan) would be the first to depart sadly.

Possibly because Elaine Paige co-produced and starred in the London run of the Lincoln Center 'Anything Goes', and there's more than one interview in which Patti gripes (rather childishly, IMO, which applies to her pronouncements on a lot of subjects) about not having got to repeat her Broadway triumph in the West End.

Booked tickets last night. Really annoyed to see they’ve extended so I might’ve got better seats the first week of Jan. Grrrrr.

Telegraph five stars too. Great comment from Lukowski in Time Out - “In the role of Bobbie’s extremely Patti LuPone-ish older friend Joanne, she basically sasses sporadically for two-and-a-half hours before being deployed like a 50-megaton bomb just before the end. ”

Just booked again for the extension, perhaps foolishly considering I haven’t seen it yet from my first booking. Based on the glowing reports here and the bargain box seats in B, I couldn’t resist my impulses. I only hope I enjoy it enough in November to warrant my decision paying off! 🙈

LOVE IT.
