Just back from seeing this. It's extremely funny but also serious at times with parts of the story easy to guess but others coming as a surprise. The cast are all excellent with Sarah Hadland getting a round of applause after one impassioned speech. The play is bookended by Nigel Harmon speaking directly to the audience as a narrator. It doesn't seem to be touring anywhere after Birmingham, which is a shame as it deserves a wider showing.

Thanks moelhywel - am seeing this next week, booked on the strength of the casting (OK, so mainly Nigel Harman) but sounds like a good decision!

I was there tonight too and thought it was great! Very funny script, the cast were teriffic, especially Harman. It is co-produced by Just For Laughs so hopefully there'll be a future life for it, and hopefully with this cast.

There a few theatres available from late April onwards like the Apollo, Vaudeville, Playhouse, Pinter etc if they want to transfer for a summer run.

I would so love to see this but unless I can arrange a last-minute day trip it's not going to happen, so a transfer/tour would be great news. So risky booking ahead for productions outside London (if you're based in the south-east), but if you leave it until the reviews are out, you either have no time to go (and it's going to "cost" you the chance to see a couple of things in the same day nearer home) or the train fares have become unaffordable. Wonder why theatres don't offer some sort of ticket-and-travel deal? Would it be too much hassle for them or do they not need the extra business or what? The same issue arises so often for me and I can't be the only one.

Saw this on Thursday. An impressive cast and set and would easily fit into the West End. Dinner party that descends into a gentle farce. Think a contemporary Ayckbourn. It's an enjoyable play.

Not sure how old this page is (but I'm guessing it's still quite recent as ABP also list their current productions alongside it i.e. Fiddler on the Roof, Moulin Rouge and Edmond de Bergerac - which I saw today and really enjoyed!), but it looks like there is still hope for a West End transfer on this... Travelzoo has an offer for both York and Aylesbury. They describe it as a "comedy play with TV stars". Tickets now £10.50 and £16.50 (plus £3.65 transaction fee).

The previous cast was more established theatre actors who were a bit older than the current cast. But a good director should be able to pull a cast together and get a solid show with material which is good.

Yes, I did notice with disappointment the difference in cast. But as you say, @brexiteer, the material and direction should be able to overcome that.

I was fair puggled when at The Exorcist the other week Strallen was named on the advert poster outside the theatre but this week she isn't there anymore. Bo Poraj has also gone in the last couple of weeks from below the line to almost top billing of "Joe Thomas from the Inbetweeners, Bo Poraj from Miranda" Have to admit the poster outside advertising this for next week is the only advertising I've seen for this tour, I didn't even know it was happening which probably explains why it looks like they have sold about 250 tickets for next week.

Original cast was Nigel Harman, Sarah Hadland, Jamie Glover, Ray Coulthard and Olivier Poulet so they have gone for a slightly younger cast this time but not hugely so. Also the new cast does have some solid comic pedigree so something must be missing.
I've only ever seen Summer Strallen do one none musical role and she was competent, I don't know what her comedy turn would be like and Laura Patch has done a lot of TV comedy but her name doesn't spring to mind as being in any major stage roles and neither of these ladies or Louise Marwood are likely to be as scene stealing as Sarah Hadland can me.

Oddly, but perhaps reassuringly, I've just seen a far more positive review of this (4.5 stars) from the Glasgow leg of the tour. I'd like to see more for balance, but maybe the production is bedding in with time.
