Almost forgot. Tomorrow I shall be at the Hampstead Theatre (one of my favourites I must admit) to see 'The Intelligent Homosexual's Guide To The Galaxy'. All 3 and a half hours of it which is a touch unnecessary I feel. I'll need to be fortified with gin. I've also seen Penny Smith twice at this theatre. I'm hoping for a hat trick tomorrow.

I'm not starting a thread for this one -
Jumpy @ The Lyceum (Edinburgh) yesterday.
I think this is the first professional production of the April De Angelis production in Scotland, hence why I'll assume that in the London production they didnt go on holiday to Carnoustie and that there has been a local rewrite.
This was amusing without actually being funny for the majority of the time, the burlesque scene brought the house down but aside from that its the odd wry chuckle rather than actual belly laughs. Also running at 2h40 with interval and I just had the feeling that it had been extended beyond its natural length.
It also struggles in that it leads with a central character who is in no way likeable, at times I was wondering why all these men were throwing themsleves at her so when Roland finally realised she was barmy and ran for the hills I was applauding him for finally seeing the light, and for a play written by a lady Mrs Roland is the worst sort of 1970s cliched stereotype shrewish wife.
It then just ends, there are questions that need answered about the mother/daughter relationship following the Male Full Frontal Nudity (as the posters warned us) but its all resolved off stage with a seeming wave of a magic wand so that the central family gets a nice neat resolution but to be honest I just didn’t really care what happened to them as most of the drama seemed to have been edited out. I couldnt help but feel that the Male Full Frontal Nudity should have been the end of Act 1 and the drama in Act 2 taking the step from there but instead we get the whole kit and kaboodle wrapped up in about 90 seconds.
Terrible turnout for a weekend as well.

A Tale of Two Cities on Friday night at Kings Edinburgh, beats watching us getting gubbed at Wemberlee.
My 31st and final Scottish production of the year, we head into Panto/touring musical season after that until next year. Six London shows coming up in December.

Having a self-imposed break from my usual 4 - 5 plays/shows per week, and really missing my fix. However, so much of what I've seen lately has been disappointing (left 2 shows at the interval in the space of a week, and they were productions about which everyone else has raved), so maybe the craving will overcome any reservations next time I see something.
That said, a semi-wild card this week for my one and only: A Princess Undone at the Yvonne Arnaud, Guildford: this is a new play about Princess Margaret (played by Stephanie Beacham), which has so far had a very limited tour - just Cambridge and Eastbourne - but has been well-reviewed by those critics who have seen it.

A Princess Undone - I caught this at the Devonshire Park Theatre last week. It may be another interval leave for you I'm afraid! Stephanie Beacham is very watchable but the 4 hander play is very weak. So much more could have been done with this given Princess Margaret's rather racy life! A really cheap looking set too which was supposed to be in Kensington Palace.

Today I shall be enjoying Moby Dick under the arches in Southwark. Ah, brings back memories of my youth.
In the evening I shall be heading to Heaven, oops sorry, the Charing Cross Theatre for Ragtime.

School of Rock tomorrow afternoon (Sunday). I don't like rock music or kids on stage! So as my expectations of enjoying this are near zero I have to be pleasantly surprised, right? Don't hold your breath!!!
