It's better than the Priscilla tour going in there, I guess. If it helps keep the hen parties away from other shows in the West End, that's a positive.

Shows the trouble with filling these massive barn theatres and whether producers want them, which this and Grease is a good indication they don’t.

The Dominion really has become the dumping ground for touring tat hasn’t it? Very sad.
They should completely refurb the theatre, reduce capacity to 1500 and get something decent in there. (I might have said this before)

(I might have said this before) Something I've always thought the Dominion should do is to put it fake movable walls that can reduce and increase the capacity depending on the show. The Ed Mirvish Theatre brought it in for a production of Gaslight which cut the capacity from 2300 to 1400 and The Lyric Sydney also has movable walls has well.

No chance the upper circle opening then?
Reducing capacity is a sensible way to go.

Isn’t there already a fake wall in the Dominion circle reducing capacity? I’m not sure how easy it would be to do the same in the stalls. Maybe just use curtains.

If the arrangement with Hillsong is to continue, any moveable walls would have to be very moveable. Must be a nice earner...for both sides.
(We had a moveable wall at school between the hall and canteen. I say wall, but it was actually more like a giant version of the concertina things nans have for the pantry.)

Yes, you can see the long closed upper circle if you stand on stage, picture here: images.app.goo.gl/RGKx2sHsXt5qFJA99Think it is now office space and a dance studio.

Walked past the Dominion last Sunday and had to chuckle. They've put up the publicity for this along the marquee including some of the previous reviews. So the huge electric board had the Hillsong logo on and then underneath "oozes sex appeal"

Are the Dominion having trouble finding a show big enough to stay on? It’s just been fillers for YEARS now.

After always managing to avoid this, I finally took the plunge to have "the time of my life" for Monday's show.
It's a light enough and enjoyable evening, but I rather feel that those people having the time of their life can't get out very much.
There's an excellent standard of dancing. And I must say that Charlotte Gooch is a joy to watch.
Tom Mussell is rather underused, being left at the back in the on-stage band (and he does get to sing a bit).
This is such a small show for such a large venue. I picked up a single seat in Stalls row D for under £30, so my view was perfectly fine, but this really isn't a show where I'd want to sit much further back.
It did seem pretty full and the audience, although far from perfect, wasn't as bad as I'd feared.
We had a show stop near the end of the first half due to technical difficulties. At that point, there was a mad rush of people going to the bar (or perhaps the toilets).
As I say, pleasant enough, and I quite enjoyed the swing music. Otherwise, the moments from the film are there, and Michael O'Reilly certainly looks the part of Johnny Castle and gets plenty of cat calling from the women in the audience. There isn't a great deal to this though and the show could really do with a few more dancers. This isn't a show I have a desire to see again, but I can see why it's a pretty safe bet to return for limited runs in the Dominion.

I'm going to it in the Palace Manchester. Haven't seen the stage version of Dirty Dancing yet, although enjoy the movie enough. I have been told not to set expectations too high though.

A few thoughts from last night's visit to the Liverpool Empire. In respect to the show, there was fantastic dancing on show from the cast and Kira Malou and Michael O'Reilly as "Baby and Jonny" worked well together. The music is provided by an on-stage band of 6 with the big movie songs getting the biggest cheers of the night when the music started. I really enjoyed the vocals (Colin Charles especially) which along with the dancing were the highlights last night. The set I'll be honest isn't anything special. Just a few bits and pieces that get wheeled on and off over the 2hrs and 15 minutes run time. I would say functional at best. There isn't anything there that is going to wow you. As Dr Tom said, the show was enjoyable enough for the £12 I paid for the ticket with all the familiar bits from the film there to keep the audience happy. Now speaking of the audience, at last night's show it really brought out the worst people possible. Every time there was a bit of on-stage kissing and Michael O'Reilly bared any flesh, we had the cheers and whistles from the ladies. It certainly wasn't a peaceful show to sit through. The atmosphere was certainly lively within the auditorium. This show wouldn't make my 2023 top 10 show list, but it certainly kept the ladies of Liverpool thoroughly entertained by the end of the night.

Hi
Saw the show at the New Wimbledon theatre London, I agree the cast being great with the vocals and the dancing, the set is really not up to much. I was in the upper circle part at the top and it was half empty with the bar closed as well.
