Looking on NT website and I didn't realise how they get such big names to their shows!

Oh calm down, George - we'd hate for you to get as excited as you did for Funny Girl 😬 !

My prediction is that this thread will become just as tedious as the Funny Girl one... I don't know whether to pray that Sheridan will be in it or not!

I'm praying for Elaine Paige! It would be a shame that her last London show appearance would be Drowsy Chaperone. It would be great to see her recreate her Broadway role in London!!! Check her out on YouTube!

I agree with Elaine Paige, but doubt she would do it now. She's been there and done it and, tbh, not sure she has the voice for it anymore. I enjoyed her Broadway performance though. Saw it live and she was good.

I'd like Vanessa Williams to do it... Or a properly directed Betty Buckley, her vocals were amazing at RAH

Ooooh Betty gave me tingles! Though, I'd be very happy with Elaine Paige.

The male roles in 'Follies' are pretty thankless really aren't they. It's all about the ladies in this show. They get all the best numbers.

Perhaps the could change sex and make it about ageing male go-go dancers.

I think it's true until you find someone really exceptional to play them. I mean, when Danny Burstein played Buddy it was a revelation for me, I was like "oh, that's what it is about". but yes, in 90% of the cases they just disappear

Yes, given the current fashion for gender swapping roles in theatre at the moment ( male to female obviously, there would be riots in the streets if the "precious few" leading female roles were played by men), it is a miracle this has not been turned into a show about faded Paris Lido boys who remembered entertaining and " waiting for the boys upstairs"

I like that we have little blue and pink icons next to our avatars to show whether the poster is male or female. I also find it interesting that the only people who are sneery or eye-roll-y or butthurt about cross-gender casting are the ones with little blue icons.

Do you remember how stupidly they divided the acts in that pathetic Royal Albert Hall concert? I wonder where they will put the interval in this production.

I've heard great things about her, but it was her singing at the Oliviers that put me off seeing that show, well that and no one else wanted to see it and there was no way I was going alone.
