You do have a bee in your bonnet about this one, don't you! I just don't see what the big fuss is about when people happily go to one act plays or to something like Hamlet which has something like a two hour first half but this is the show people are getting annoyed about. People with a weak bladder may not go for that reason, when I saw Hamlet on Saturday several people had to leave for comfort break towards the end of the first act. Also some people maybe on medications such as diuretics that make you go more and you want to go before the performance to anticipate having no problems in the performance and you can't go and an hour in guess what?

We get it. Some people have to pee, others dont. Can we actually get excited its the first perview currently happening now!

Did anyone attend the platform performance with Mr Sondheim this afternoon?

PS Am a the first to report back from the Sondheim platform or am I missing a conversation somewhere? Big news for me is that Marianne Elliot is going to direct Company with a female Bobby. Really like the sound of that!

What time did the show begin tonight? We won't be far off some thoughts if it began at 7?

What time did the show begin tonight? We won't be far off some thoughts if it began at 7? I *think* it was a 7.30pm start as that's what every other performance is listed as (apart from Press Night, of course). Interesting to note that the NT website now says "Running Time: Preview 1 will run will run at approx. 2 hour 10 mins without an interval'. It wasn't specified as 'Preview 1' before, was it? Or am I making it up/going mad/losing my mind (is that joke still funny?).

But at the theatre it seems the doors say 2h 20m. ... also, sidenote to our conversation before, the running times are on the door, so people will be able to look at that at the actual venue.

I think we're getting sidetracked here so let me bring it back to the real issue of the day. The issue is not about the integrity of the show. It's not about the running time of the show. It's not about whether someone has a weak bladder or not. It's about having a G&T before the show and halfway through the show. Simple as that. Big fail Norris. BIG fail. Epic. I honestly don't know why I bought a membership. Have you ever been to the Improvathon? 50 hours in 1h45 chunks with 15 mins between each = 24 intervals. You'd love that!

I really enjoyed the platform. He's an incredibly funny man, and I loved hearing his stories. (Particular fondness for hearing about him and Elaine Stritch around a piano!) Dorfman had a few empty seats I spotted which is mad, but I guess it's been a strange booking... Looking forward to hearing about preview 1!

This is a long show, I've looked on twitter and instagram, no comments on the show so either it has overrun, the audience is so overwhelmed they forgot how to live, its sh*t or no one in the National owns a phone.

Wow. Well that was an incredible experience.
I had no idea really what to expect, but it was a wonderful production. I'll write up my thoughts properly when I get home. There were quite a few first night mess-ups - though all easily solvable.
It was difficult to tell how long it ran as there was a show stop for technical issues - I'd guess the two hour 20 minute mark was about right. However long it was, it totally flew by!

I imagine they'll try and get it to 2 hours to 2 hours 10 minutes by press Night.

There are now a few pics on Instagram showing the curtain call, is this version being set in the 70's?

Another pic but of the cast - might be a bit of a spoiler this for people that don't want to see costumes, so will tag it as such.
