I wasn't apart of all that, as far as I'm awake it was the germans Sorry I get confused, you were the Mexican wave gang? I registered on here just to reply, after reading the Wicked threads for months... why the need to be so mean? (It's not just you, but I'm replying to you right now). This feels basically like bullying, if someone can't make a comment and say they are going to see the show without being attacked like this for no reason. We all love the same show and yes, there have been bad situations in the audience, but do they really need to be brought up every other post, in reply to any comment by certain people, regardless of the topic? Sorry to have this as my first post.

Whilst you are quite right Greenie, similar amounts of intolerance and ‘refusing to believe that a different opinion may exist’ have historically been forthcoming from the board member you defend. Maybe read back a few more months (is it years?) when you get an hour or so’s free time, for a more balanced view. Welcome along ❤️

Welcome along ❤️ I'm not defending him in particular, I was more commenting against the fact that those kind of comments are made a lot (both here and in the main Wicked thread) and this constant attack on other fans seems unnecessary... I have read the posts you talk about and I agree there was refusal to acknowledge other opinions in there too (definitely not defending that). It's simply the continuous attacks on fans that I was questioning. And thank you 😊

Can you specify who it is that you think is being unfairly maligned?

All of you who have been here for a while know how this goes. If you don't want another round of regular thread-locking then refrain from sneering at others. Some of you seem to think you have a duty to belittle people you dislike. Not here, you don't.

I really was not trying to be mean, I thought it was just a bit of light hearted banter. Apologies if anyone took offense.

Anyhoo, so here's what I think!
So I saw this in Bristol last week and had the privilege of seeing Amy Ross. Wow, that girl's got a pair of lungs! She knocked it out of the park and her acting was just as good as her singing! Never seen her before but I'll keep an eye out for future shows to see if I like her just as much doing something different. Helen Woolf was also on but I found her voice quite weak and nasally and her acting wasn't there. And then there was Aaron Sidwell...ahem.
Wicked had been on my list of shows to see for ages so I'm really pleased I've seen it. I didn't love it but I did enjoy it.
Sadly there was the ever present issues with sound at Bristol Hippodrome. A number of times Amy started speaking and singing and her mic didn't pick her up so the lips were moving but there was no sound. And Helen's mic struggled with her weaker voice apart from when she did her screachy bits. I don't know why Bristol is unable to sort this out but it's always been the same issue at every single show I've seen apart from WNO's Sweeney Todd (which was abs shamazing by the way!)
So that's what I think x

Surely each show has it’s own sound team? Nothing to do with the venue? Or is it a joint effort?

A show of this scale, the sound team will tour with the show. They might use some of the venue's kit or tech team, but they'll be very much in control of things themselves.

The fact that the same issue has occurred at every show I've seen there bar one tells me it's a Hippodrome issue. I usually sit in stalls somewhere between row D and J but I've also sat further back of stalls, in the boxes and the Grand circle but wherever I sit, it's the same old. And before someone says it, hearing tests I've had over the years show that I'm all good on that front!

We only have your word on that Sue! 😂 If the sound team are missing cues etc that is a show issue, but if the accoustic is poor or the sound muddy that is more likely to do with the shape of the venue and it hasn’t been addressed by the sound design.

I also noticed this at Bristol wicked a couple of weeks ago..however didnt not put down to the the venue and have not heard the prob there before on past shows...who knows for sure...but i would go for a weakness in the tech somewhere if pushed....

I’ve seen the show multiple times at the Hippodrome (as well as many other shows) and only once I have I noticed any sound issues. All that I experienced was that on two occasions the mics didn’t quite kick in in time, nothing too detrimental though. I wouldn’t say it’s an issue with the Hippodrome at all, more just you’ve been unlucky with the performances you’ve seen

Do we know if this is going ahead tonight, with it being in the heart of a red weather warning?

I believe it's Ireland and Scotland that are getting the worst of the weather, so I think Bristol should be fine for the show to go ahead!

I have a ticket but unfortunately can’t travel down thanks to the weather. Refunds are a no go as the show is going ahead tonight

Does anybody want to buy my ticket for tonights performance? Can’t make it due to this weather. £25 single seat, front row of the Grand Circle (A28)
