See, for me, my issue isn't being bored with the show, or being bored with any previous cast members (bar one or two)... I just wanna see some women get the opportunity to play Elphaba that haven't been able to play the role since 2010 because the previous Leads and Standbys just can't get enough.

I don't understand this issue with new actresses!
Take the 10th Anniversary cast change... yes Rachel was a "recycled" Elphaba, but there were 3 brand new to role actresses playing Elphaba.
It's the same as this time around.... Alice is technically "recycled" but there are still three brand new to role actresses!
If you care enough about seeing someone who hasn't played the role before then you'll make the effort to see a Standby or Understudy show and stop moaning about the lead!

I couldn't care less if they've been on before. If they are great and have that "special something" about them I will be happy to watch them.

It's definitely a step in the right direction. They have done it right this time with having every actress other than Alice be new to the cast or role. I have yet to see Alice and intend to, but I am more excited to see Laura Pick now considering all the buzz I have heard about her!

All the comments on here are very true! I suppose an issue we have in the UK is that the cast have the option to extend (and do!) so this leaves us with the same cast for (potentially) many years! In the US we only really see the leading cast do one contact (especially Elphaba actresses) then move on!
In the first say 7-8 years of Wicked we had constant cast extensions and there never seemed to be this much fuss about it! We had Kerry and Rachel stay for years and also Ashleigh Gray as Standby for a few years, but no one really used to moan as much as they do these days (unless I was oblivious to it?) and this 'new to the role' argument seems to be very fresh (last 1-2 years)
If you're bored of certain actresses in a role, maybe you're bored of the show (I know, I know, I've said this twice today!) and seeing it too offen! I went years without seeing the show in London as the cast didn't change, saw the UK Tour and saw different actresses each time, then returned to London to see Willemijn this year, and as all the actresses were new to me I REALLY enjoyed the show!
These 'fans' who compare and slate certain actresses in a role (once they've left and the replacement has come in) give Wicked such a bad name, give some dedicated fans a bad name! They see the show too much and act like they're a professional theatre critic who has the right to do this!
Sorry for my massive moan. This is just my opinion! ππΌππΌ

Funnily enoughI agree... I got bored with the show because nothing about excited me once Jennifer DiNoia left. But then Rachel happened, who was a new Elphaba to me and was the best thing to come out of the show in a good few years (excluding the likes of Oliver Savile and Suzie Mathers of course!). The 10th Anniversary cast re-ignited my love of it!

The 10th Anniversary cast re-ignited my love of it! Totally agree! As i said, the show in London got very stale for me, so I took a few years away and came back to see this cast (with Willemijn as Elphaba) and it was like a new show to me! Time out really helped! ππΌ

The tenth anniversary cast were incredible but I didn't really enjoy the tenth anniversary show. You tubers and z listers in the stalls, fans in the rafters and by the way, can you fans all go in the back door. It just left a bit of a sour taste in my mouth.
Never mind getting all those Wonderful old cast members on stage at the end. To just stand there. Such a wasted opportunity of what it could have been! Especially as they brought the start time forward.

My memories of the 10th, other than the show obviously, was nearly passing out at the interval from the heat!

I didn't attend the anniversary show! There were lots of predictions about what special events were planned when in reality it was obvious NOTHING special would happen! Wicked isn't celebrated worldwide, even Broadway's 10th anniversary didn't bring anything special!
The show just seems to be an endless money pit for the producers with little regard to anything else but the income the show makes! Hence the poor treatment of dedicated and loyal fans on such a landmark achievement! They don't care, all they want is the money and fame in my honest opinion! πβπΌ

After London cast change I thought it could be Suzie Mathers as Michael McCabe said in her farewell speech that it wasn't the last we'd seen of her. But then there was a strong rumour it could be Helen Woolf who was in the ensemble and 1st u/s Glinda in London who has just left. Helen pretty much covered the Standby role so it would be a great move for her to get the tour lead. But with a brand new Fieyro and rumoured brand new Elphaba it could be someone brand new too for Glinda! Think he meant Suzie for Wicked Movie I honestly think Willemijn and Suzie will be Elphaba and Glinda in the movie! Stephen loves them!

Well maybe, but any fan of wicked or any show who managed to see a show with the same cast more than twice is amazing to me. I absolutely could not go to a show more than twice unless it was to see different people in the roles. One you see a show and know the show then surely it does become about seeing new takes on the roles? Absolutely, but I know people who never saw Alice Fearn while she was standby but have refused to see her since she took over as lead purely because she wasn't new to the show. It's a lose-lose situation. Their loss, they're just missing out on seeing the best Elphaba we'll ever get anyway aha

They're not going to spend millions on this film and cast unknowns over film stars, let's be honest. The best we can hope is lots to be in the background, like the Les Mis movie.

Moving swiftly on... we can expect the casting announcement in the coming weeks, I'm certainly excited to see who we will have joining the tour. I imagine some of the cast will return from the International Tour, hoping for Kim Ismay or Carly Anderson, both were fantastic!

If you had Willemijn in the movie, you may as well have Idina because Willemijn's only about 5 years younger... She was too old now to pull off a college student on stage, let alone on screen π

Its the fans who often spoil the show for others, by screaming all night and laughing way too loud before any joke happens. They think its all about them. It really isn't.

Nothing to do with fame, all to do with money. I'm astonished anyone thinks the show owes the fans anything, they really aren't the moneyspinners - that is the ordinary punters who are willing to pay premium prices.

You seem to be under the illusion that Wicked owes the fans something. They dont. I think you've read my post the wrong way! Never did I say that Wicked owes the fans anything, in fact my post highlights the fact that the production is just about generating money and it doesn't care about the fans, so they shouldn't expect anything on landmark events, much like your reply to me highlighted the same points! π€
