Not sure if this is allowed or we have to wait until they turn it from a film into a stage musical, but the distributors of this new film are doing a great job getting me excited.
Somehow though the relaesed still pictures are more dynamic than these deliberately low key trailers. Not sure I’ll LOVE the music but they seem to have tried for the right feeling. Also I loved Whiplash the Directors previous film. It was a kind of musical without words! It had a great musical payoff sequence and was anything but a soft and gooey Hollywood story.
At the LIFF next month. Can’t wait.

Yeah, really excited for this. Seeing it next month at LFF as well.
Should also be noted that Pasek & Paul (composers of Dogfight) wrote the lyrics.

Me too. However I have chosen not to see it at the LFF because I know it will get a general release and have chosen to see one or two smaller films that may not.

OOOPS have just noticed what she APPEARS to have in her hand as you look at the second trailer!! Why is she looking so glum?
Surely this is entirely the wrong internet forum for that kind of video!!
(PS do people get banned from here for inappropriate posts on a Sunday morning???)

Does anyone know if the film "Their Finest" starring Gemma Arteton is due to be released in cinemas? It's been at the Film Festivals but I can't seem to find a release date for cinemas anywhere?
Any info would be greatly appreciated

Any info would be greatly appreciated At the Q&A during the London Film Festival the director said that Their Finest will be released in "spring 2017". Personally, I loved it and would highly recommend it. And La La Land is awesome by the way.

Yep La La Land was truly great. Think it will easily win Best Picture at next year's Oscars.

It came, I saw, It conquered.
If you've ever loved movie musicals its at the very least, a must see.
Will resist going overboard as I've just come out on a complete high.
PS Do not wait for the DVD/Blueray needs to be seen on a widescreen.

Loved it! The musical numbers are a wonderful tribute not only to the classic MGM musicals but also to Jacques Demy's beautiful films The Umbrellas of Cherbourg and The Young Girls of Rochefort.
Definitely one of the big contenders for this year's Oscars. Highly recommended.

Gonna be a bit of a dissenter. Loved it but didn't quite live up to the hype for me. Definitely preferred Moonlight.

Enjoyed seeing the film this evening.
It really was a love letter to the golden movie musicals, it's cinematography and choreography throughout the piece was charming (and different).

I am super excited to see this! Love how rich in colour the trailer looks (as opposed to all of the desaturated films we see nowadays) and I adore Emma Stone. Cannot wait to see it!

it's very much a chamber musical, as it is quite restrained really, and never lets go a la MGM musicals.

So excited about this! Saw the trailer today and it looks great. And I'm really pleased to see that someone still knows that the correct usage is "excited about" not "excited for", as the latter means something else altogether but seems unfortunately to have gained much ground in recent years. Thank you, eldermillan, for making my day, and at so early an hour, too!

Last night, the film broke the record for the most Golden Globe awards won for a film ever! It won every, single award (all 7!) it was nominated for, crazy! Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy Best Actor – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy (Ryan Gosling) Best Actress – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy (Emma Stone) Best Director (Damien Chazelle) Best Screenplay (Damien Chazelle) Best Original Score (Justin Hurwitz) Best Original Song ("City of Stars" – Justin Hurwitz, Pasek and Paul)
