Lizzie Borden took an axe, and gave her mother forty whacks... ...When she saw what she had done she gave her father forty one. Lizzie Borden got away; for her crimes she did not pay. Don't you envy people who do all the things you want to do?

It feels like something they'd show at Halloween Horror Nights in Universal Studios.

The video on the website makes it look more like a rock concert than a musical. They're all holding microphones.

Well she'll need to put hers down when she wields the axe. Or perhaps that's why it took forty to kill the mum and forty-one to kill the dad. Microphone got in the way...

I'd pay to see Eden Espinosa in anything. She was the first Elphaba I ever saw back in 2005. She's the reason I'm off to see this (not the artwork, I'm afraid...)

Saw Lizzie tonight! What an incredible show. Such kick ass vocals. Not seen anything this good in a long time!

I did see this yesterday Evening. Mostly went because of Jodie Jacobs and Eden Espinosa. Both had only minor roles, but especially Jodie stood out - truly amazing vocals. Get her back on a West End stage. Now. Eden didn't have much to work with, and I'm not quite sure why she came over for this.
The show itself was more of a concert than a musical and I must admit that it wasn't my cup of tea. Despite I usually enjoy rock music, the score gave nothing to me and was just a loud mess; every song sounded the same. Also, it wasn't always easy to figure out what was going on.
The entire front row found thin plastic ponchos at their seats, and, at the end of act 1, you really needed them. The girl next to me wasn't careful enough and her white jumper was soiled. Programmes were free, and the show is rather short. Including a 20ish min interval, I was out at 9.25pm.
All in all, I couldn't give this show more than two stars, and that's only because of the cast.

Really glad I didn't accept the offer of a free ticket to this. After watching the trailer I decided I'd rather give it a miss.

Reading the reviews/comments (good and bad), it seems like something I might like! So I'll see how next week goes.

I did go. We both liked it! However, I can see that it is definitely not everyone's cup of tea. It is loud. But (drawing on the sound at musicals thread) this is just about right. In fact the sound could have been just a little louder (at times I wanted to feel the beat through my feet and not just ringing in my ears, but it was just below this level). However, I was worried beforehand that the voices would be masked by the band - far from it, they were crystal clear throughout (spot on work by the sound crew). I felt that the music was rock in a relatively raw form, not toned down to appeal to a wider audience. This is potentially a problem commercially, but for me this made it much more enjoyable.
Would I recommend it? Well, that depends. So, here's a question. Would you prefer to spend the next hour listening to Into the Woods or Led Zep? If the former, maybe give Lizzie a miss. If the latter (or both), give it a go.

Currently at the interval...what a shouty mess. Really not my cup of tea, at all. Vocally, all 4 women are incredible, some of the notes they're hitting are out of this world. The show itself is just dire though, I'm sorry to say. It's definitely a convert and not a musical, and should be advertised as such. I like a bit of rock, but I think this is just a bit too heavy for me.
If it's your kind of thing you'll probably enjoy it but I'm really not wowed. Anyway, I'm going to stay for Act 2, hopefully it picks up.
