We like it! Not just tourists. So many friends have been back and still love it (none of the people I worked with even realised there had been any changes).
It looks and sounds glorious. Now all the hoo hah has died down I honestly think the hysteria was not insignificantly enflamed by everyone’s heightened emotions of the Covid era.
I think ALW and CM got it spot on and did what they needed to do to save the production. Given it got them through two very difficult years, I think they’ve been vindicated. Had they not, it would have gone the way of Broadway…..
(As an aside, if you really wanna see cheap, look at some of the pics coming from Italy. London remains lavish).

Italy has certainly made me not mind seeing London. At least the set and cast are big!

Really disappointing to hear that about Italy. I was impressed by the casting, but perhaps they’ve spent all the money on that and not left enough over for the staging?!

I've only seen a few pics, but yes it is a shame really - looks a bit Kenwright. Hopefully some more pics might come out which will give us a better idea. Was thinking of seeing it when it's in Madrid but not sure I'll bother now.... Does serve as a reminder of how totally iconic the original productions of these musicals were though. Even originals which have been (very slightly) adapted.

Pippa Evans as Christine and Marcus Brigstocke as Michael Crawford's Frank Spencer doing POTO on I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue is worth checking out on BBC sounds. Hilarious, and she has the notes!

I can't remember which platform where I saw a post mentioning that it was the Phantoms out. No available u/s, swings, emergency cover. Seems like a number of the former Phantoms have made their way to Les Mis, and Scott Davies seems to be done. I can't believe there's not a soul in London or the surrounding home counties who could step in (ok, might need help with new version backstage traffic, but still).

I’m booked for Monday … half-hoping for an unexpected Phantom now!

Is anyone else having difficulty getting the day seats email? My link expired, so I tried for a new one, but I'm just not getting the email. Tried a few different email addresses too.

Seems another round of illness is doing its round in the company. This evening's performance will borrow Adam Robert Lewis from Les Mis (currently playing Courfreyrac) to play Phantom - a role he understudied 4 years ago. Today Adam Robert Lewis will play The Phantom during today's Matinee, before going back over to the Sondheim to play Javert this evening! Adam was scheduled to play Javert during the Les Mis matinee today, so if anyone is there, you might be getting 2nd u/s Javert (or an emergency cover?) which is also really exciting!

Looks like Adam Robert Lewis will now play both performances - contradicts what was earlier confirmed, but Phantom's official channels have just posted that he will perform in both performances today.

Lol here I am again posting about Adam- I do try my utmost to run to HMT when he's on- once again he knocked my socks off, what a huge voice he has on him- to me a perfect Phantom needs to sound ethereal and beautiful and rich and thunderous, and Adam absolutely does that! Those who are a fan of the 'classic' acting details will adore his take, he brings a bit of original production direction with him, along with an accidental old Final Lair lyric too ha!
First time seeing the new principals, Lily is stunning- has all the vocal acting, control and bell-like clarity I could ever ask for in a Christine. Joe has a great balance of warmth and firmness as well, and David is a fantastic Piangi vocally with hilarious acting details.

Is the day seat process always this glitchy.
I’ve been in this morning and they were showing instantly sold out so I kept refreshing and about 10:07 they finally showed the performance. I got 2 in the stalls and clicked booked and managed to then secure them (the little timer in the corner) just as I was about to book it then glitched and said this selection was no longer available.
But these were my ticket 😂 I had them in my basket.
What are peoples experience with getting day seats for Phantom

What are peoples experience with getting day seats for Phantom It used to be fine, but Phantom is going through a little bit of a renaissance at the moment. Used to be able to get tickets at 11:55 a few months back without issue (5 minutes before day tickets "close"), but now it's practically impossible!

I imagine the international tourist market is particularly booming for this show, after the closure of the Broadway production.

It also seems today is the first performance for Michael Colbourne as the Phantom, which might explain why people were so eager for tickets! (I assume 2nd u/s? haven't seen it since the cast change, but I assume James Gant is still 1st u/s?) Very dashing: pbs.twimg.com/media/F4UFW6iWAAIhEDj?format=jpg&name=large

That photo is from the cover run they did yesterday (he is 2nd cover Phantom and 1st cover Raoul).
