With the news of Moulin Rouge finally coming to the stage, which over movies do you think are calling out to be turned into a musical?

With the (relatively) recent trend of turning Disney animation musicals into stage shows, I think the music of Hercules is begging for a Musical Theatre treatment. Not sure how staging it would work, but hey that's what designers and directors are for.

Can they just do Hocus Pocus already?! It has been calling out to be a musical the moment it was released and it is a brilliant story!

What happened to that Bridget Jones' Musical by Lily Allen and written by the book's author?!
It was supposed to be going to the Savoy with Sheridan Smith but fell through last minute.
That would be an amazing musical!!

That would be an amazing musical!! It fell through because Smith pulled out of it just before they signed for the Savoy. Lilly Allen is also no longer involved in the project. The characters would translate well on stage I think. Whatever happened to the Hunger Games musical?

As i mentioned in the Moulin Rouge thread, something to come out of the recent Curve season launch was that they had secured the rights to adapt a film into a stage show and were workshopping it, so very intrigued as to what that could be.

Yeah I know why it fell through, it was because Smith was becoming really big and getting lots of job offers. They are trying to find someone else to write the music for the show instead of Lilly. It would make a good British musical I think, especially with the third movie coming out

At a purpose built theatre near Wembley Stadium.

It was, and it was all over the trade exhibition "World Travel Market" last November. All suddenly went silent... I wonder if it's anything to do with waiting for the Harry Potter hype to die down first? Clutching at straws here...

There was talk of an Animal House musical, to be directed by Casey Nicholaw and with a score by Barenaked Ladies; my favourite film and favourite band, so naturally I was freaking out.
The last I heard, BNL had resigned/been fired (depending on who you ask), with David Yazbeck drafted in to write the lyrics and score, but that was last year and have heard nothing since.

I'd love them to do Mulan. Mulan the film is very cinematic so they'd have to make some big changes to make it work for the stage. I'd be curious how Mushu could be realised. I know it's been mooted for years but Down with Love would make a great musical

A new version of Fantastic Mr Fox is being done at the Nuffield in Southampton this Christmas, followed by a tour (Dartford and Edinburgh appear to only be confirmed at the moment). Also there was some sort of Shaun of The Dead Live show by Almost Legal Productions almostlegalproductions.co.uk/shows/shaun-of-the-dead/

I'm stealing this idea off a friend of mine, but completely agree with him - Death Becomes Her would make a great musical!
