With this all coming in the news just now, it's almost taken something away from the actual programme... Opposite for me, I'm going to revel in 2016 GBBO.
Watched last weeks episode at least five times.

Mel and Sue on top form tonight too... Loved Andrew's face when a) Paul told him he was glad he'd toasted his nuts and b) when he was trying to squeeze out the churros batter! Some of the stuff they produced this week looked amazing! So pleased for Benjamina. Do wish Val wouldn't spend ten minutes telling us how confident she is, followed by fifty minutes looking like she might be returning to her role of Janine Duvitski's understudy in Boy Meets Girl. Tom was so lucky.
I think I want Andrew to win.

I thought it was rather a poor show all round tonight. Most of the Yorkshire puds were a DISGRACE. Those pancakes were rubbish and some of the churros looked more like.... well never mind.
Can we please just have some normal cake?

My grandkids loved it! They can already 'help' make pancakes so the lacey variety are def on the menu now. Myself, I love a good cake.

What is that bear doing to the R?
The mention of the churros resembling You Know What (and bears) reminds me...
A couple of years ago we were visiting some of the fabulous national parks in the US of A and there was a lot of excitement about bear spotting. Who could spot the first bear etc... Anyway, someone asked what to do if we actually came across one, literally in front of us as it were, as we all know bears look cuddly but in fact they are nasty. The answer was a) play dead or b) throw sh*t at it, as apparently bears don't like that. Another person asked where on earth you'd find some sh*t to chuck at it. We were told not to worry, because if a big fierce bear was a couple of feet away, we would soon find some...

Not you, Burly... As if I would call you nasty. Everyone knows that:-
You're my little chu-chi face My coo-chi, coo-chi, woo-chi little chu-chi face Every time I look at you I sigh And you're my little teddy bear My lovey lovey dovey little teddy bear You're the apfel strudel of mine eye Your chu-chi woo-chi nose Your chu-chi woo-chi eyes They set my heart a flutter Your ooo-chi coo-chi ways Your ooo-chi coo-chi gaze Wilts me down like meltings butter You're my little chu-chi face And you're my teddy bear Together we're a chu-chi woo-chi, ooo-chi coo-chi pair Whatever you may ask becomes my heavy task I only live to serve you I never will divine what magic made you mine I only know I don't deserve you You're my little chu-chi face And you're my teddy bear Together we're a chu-chi woo-chi, ooo-chi coo-chi Chu-chi, Woo-chi, Ooo-chi, Coo-chi Chu-chi, Woo-chi, Ooo-chi Coo-chi pair

I was coming in here to read about cakes and now I feel slightly disturbed about accidentally observing an ursine mating ritual. Wonder whether David Attenborough ever felt intrusive when whispering about birds and bees, and possibly bears.

Mary Berry not going 4. Paul Hollywood is going 4 - a lovely twitter post "Paul Hollywood kneads the dough" made me laugh.

Mary Berry not going 4. Paul Hollywood is going 4 - a lovely twitter post " Paul Hollywood kneads the dough" made me laugh. Good for Mary. Paul was always the biggest media-whore of the bunch so it's no surprise he's going with the cash. I've lost any respect for him, it all just seems so desperate now. Watching GBBO on Channel 4 will be like going to see a Girls Aloud concert and just getting Sarah Harding. Singing the score of 'Ghost'.

I predict the Sewing Bee and that pottery programme getting rather more exposure. Mary Berry will stay with the BBC, Hollywood will go to CH4 where he'll be a big fish in a small pond. And after two series it will be over. Told you so!

I see that slobbering oaf Jamie Oliver has let it be known he wants to be a judge when it goes to C4. As he is of limited intellect it has entirely passed him by that his plan to tax us into penury if we dare to eat any sugar will look somewhat hypocritical as he stands there watching contestants use pounds of the stuff to make cakes. Still, less objectionable than his previous genius idea of having Rolf Harris teach a class of troubled school kids. I voted Brexit because he promised to leave the country if it won - still waiting.

^and I would click "like" many multiple times for that post, if I could... Feel a bit guilty about that now, what if his children read that post and were upset about someone being rude to their father ? That would be his children Daisy Boo, Poppy Honey, Buddy Bear, Petal Blossom Rainbow and River Rocket. On reflection maybe they'd not be that bothered.

I'd imagine they have their own playground issues to deal with... ... if they'd been in a school like mine, with names like those... ... and we had several Rolfs on the staff, and among the senior pupils, too.. His kids can probably handle it, JB. As his net worth is $400 million (according to Sunday Times) what are the chances they'll go to a school like yours or mine ?

I bet a few calls have been put into Delia Smith's agent from CH4 over the last week. But when she's says no (which she will) who do they go to next?
Dream cast for Bake Off...?

As presenter they should poach Dan Cruickshank from BBC4 then I'd never have to watch the tedious old fool again. As a judge the genius Paul Foot would be perfect (from 4:35 here)

I just heard that the production company is 70% owned by Sky so they were probably happy to sell it to anyone rather than the BBC

Not a fan of the series but how pleasing is it to see the three female presenters showing some old fashioned loyalty.

Not a fan of the series but how pleasing is it to see the three female presenters showing some old fashioned loyalty. Well, it's either loyalty or keeping the goose that lays the golden egg happy. All three of them will be rewarded in spades for this by the BBC. I don't like Paul Hollywood but I can understand the decision. This show probably had three years left in it, even if it stayed on the Beeb. He'll have negotiated a huge fee on the back of being the only original cast member and now Top Dog of the show. He's feathering his nest just like the women are, but in a different way.
