How useless are they...? I booked for 42nd Street a couple of weeks back. The young man on the 'phone had never heard of Drury Lane, so I explained that it was the same as the Theatre Royal Drury Lane. Huge confusion on his part about the availability of certain seats so I was on the line for ages, all at my expense on their premium rate number. Eventually booked and was promised email confirmation. This never did arrive, so I had to email them for it. It then came a day or so later... He also informed me that tickets would be sent out within 5-7 working days but they haven't materialised as yet. They haven't responded to two emails I have sent. Has anyone else experienced problems with them? Do tickets usually take a while to be sent out? (I honestly can't remember how reliable all of these agencies are/aren't now..) Any tips for the best/cheapest ways of contacting them?

These agencies sell tickets for loads of massive sports and music stadia and other large venues all over the country, with tens of thousands of tickets for each event. It's hardly surprising that one of their agents, who may be anywhere in the UK (or perhaps the wider world?), hasn't heard of a relatively tiny music theatre venue, particularly when the caller gets its name wrong!

Never had any problems with SEE but I've only ever booked online with them.
Nowadays i also go for "print at home" or "box office collection" over having them sent out.

After a bad experience with Harry Potter and then with Ticketmaster and the Billy Elliot tour I'm inclined to agree that box office is best. It also has the added benefit that you can't lose your ticket.

I booked 42nd Street via their own website (which directed me to Primary Ticket). Tickets arrived two days later.

Ironically See Tickets are owned by the Really Useless Theatre Company that is owned by Andrew Lloyd Webber and its headquarters are at the Theatre Royal, Dury Lane.

Its not just See Tickets, I had a crap experience from one of the Box Office staff at Wicked who was just rude and unhelpful in everyway. He even rolled his eyes when I corrected him when he said the wrong Johnson. He was young with dark hair... Feel free to scold when you visit.

I had a problem with a girl at the Wicked Box Office too. As a result I've never seen Wicked.

When I forgot my tix for something, can't remember what, not long ago, I went to the box office to explain. Mad woman forgets tickets, dreadful, gimme me tix now sort of thing. Well, the man he ask if I booked thru the theatre box office and when I said yes, he looked at his screen and gave me the duplicates. What would have happened if I had booked thru an agency? No tix? Wait til everyone else seated and then find me seats? I was bemused. Surely each theatre has info of who has seats?

I don't know how agencies deal with their allocation, but is it possible the theatre will just know that X seats have been sold, and unless the buyer has opted for box office collection then the theatre won't have names of every customer?

All agencies do a daily 'mark back' - a list of who has bought tickets and which tickets haven't sold (some even physically courier over tickets for customers to collect). Although nowadays the majority of agency and venue box offices are working from the same live allocation system, so the venue should have a complete list of who has tickets and from where they bought them (touts aside).
