Just to say how refreshing the new Theatreboard is at the moment. Civilised, informative discussion without the bitching that ruined the 'old' forum.
Hopefully the sad, negative posters of the past will stay away from here and we can continue in this fashion!

Given people have such strong views at times a bit of argy bargy seems rather inevitable though yes it's nicer when it's more tongue in cheek rather than straight out 'you are wrong'. Still I've not been on here for a day or two and it's gone very fancy, all looking good, so glad so many of us seem to have migrated and picked up where we left off.

Did anybody go over the top? Not very often in my time on the old board. Never found it negative. Always liked the vibe on the board and that will continue here. Onwards and upwards

Phew! Made it. Hadn't a clue what I was doing but followed it through, then found I could log in even when it said I couldn't!

Just curious if it says anywhere how many members we have here?

Having clicked "members" at the top and done a quick calculation (50 names per page, 11 pages, but page 11 only has 2 names on it) there have been 502 registrations on this forum. But looking at some of the names on the first page, I'd be surprised if some of these weren't duplicates from people who had issues with the registration process.

If you go to the forum's desktop version, main page, then look under "forum information and statistics" then "members" it confirms total members = 502.

To lurk you don't have to register unlike the other place. So it's possible that many of the members who didn't post on the old board or only did so now and again haven't bothered registering here as they can still read regardless. But we are very pleased to get over 500.

I think some people like to register on new bits of internet to make sure no one else steals their name, not necessarily with any expectation to post. There's definitely some familiar internet handles in the members list who currently have 0 posts to their names. But still, as there's no need to register to lurk, 500 is not bad at all.

The consensus we came to was that it would be best if we didn't do that until the the other board had officially closed down. So yes, but not until 12th Feb.

It's great isn't it. I always had the idea with the old site that there were probably about 20 people actually still visiting/able to access the site, and that all the other members had long since disappeared.
One of the pleasures of this move (not that the move itself was a pleasure of course) has been hearing from so many 'lurkers' who have been recently introducing themselves and have started posting on the site. Lots of fresh blood.
Looking forward to seeing the membership steadily grow once we start telling people about this new site too. Exciting times!

The opposite for me, theatremonkey. I'm about 20% normal, 80% insane.

Just a quick headsup for people...forum was running a bit erratically for me (seizing up a little and just freezing at odd moments) but I had not changed address to theatreboard.co.uk from the old proboards address....just in case anyone else has not updated yet! I have now changed to correct updated address and problems seem to have gone away!

Well this is looking great. Thanks a million to all who helped transfer the forum. I couldn't do without it. I may not have time to post often but I rely on this for my theatre fix on a daily basis!

I just went on the old board to say goodbye to it. It seemed lonely.

71 people have visited the old forum today, which is rather more than I was expecting. I hope they've all realised that we've moved, although to be honest if there's anyone lack-witted enough to have failed to notice that something's going on we can probably manage without them.

It's a ghost town there, most topics locked. I do feel strangely sentimental.
But I'll get over it.
