She is one of my favourite actresses and feel really lucky that I saw her in Gypsy. I love all her rolls like in that day we sang, pride and Harry Potter. I sadly did not see her in Sweeney Todd but from what I have listened to she was brilliant!

I love her and wish I'd seen her in the Original London Cast of "Into the Woods", she makes a great Baker's Wife on the OLC recording.

I saw her on the final Chichester matinee in Sweeney Todd. Easily one of the best, if not THE best (along with Michael Ball) performances I have ever seen in a musical. I also saw the Gypsy TV broadcast, she was again brilliant in that.

she makes a great Baker's Wife in Sweeney Todd. Easily one of the best, if not THE best If the acting work dries up, she could get a job in Greggs.

I love her. I found her performance in Gypsy a tad overrated, but I just adore everything else she's been in. Sondheim sings her praises in a few interviews x

I've enjoyed everything I've ever seen her do- from Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz to Gypsy. A class act, in my opinion. Oh, and she threw us her garter once in Guys and Dolls!

I sat next to her and her husband once at La Cage Aux FolLes and we had a lovely chat about Cranford.

I've been lucky enough to see her in Wizard of Oz (RSC), Guys and Dolls, Into the Woods, and Gypsy, as well as being my first Diva at the Donmar.

Imelda really has remarkable commitment to her stage work. Correct me if I'm wrong, but she didn't take any holiday and only missed two or three performances of Gypsy due to illness.

I saw her a few times in Sweeney, Good People and Gypsy (a few times at Chichester and Savoy), she is a powerhouse and I think she is superb

It seems Imelda’s next big and permanent role will be…. Professor Umbridge! This time in the new major ride at Universal Epic Universe theme park, opening in 2025. It will focus on the trial of Dolores Umbridge, set after the original Harry Potter trilogy, and take place inside the Ministry of Magic, on a next generation ride system. It will use projection mapping onto an animatronic to make it appear that she is actually there - all sounds very impressive.

She lives up the road from me, as does Emma Thompson.
If fact I've actually stopped and spoken to Imelda Staunton in the street on a couple of occasions.
I've actually seem both Imelda and Jim Carter (Carson from Downton Abbey and her husband) food shopping in my local M&S.

Nice pay day for her although assuming she'll get royalties for using her likeness. I'm more intrigued how they'll make a trial into a ride. She lives up the road from me, as does Emma Thompson. I remember seeing her and Jim Carter in the audience at both The Importance of Being Earnest at the Pinter and at Wife at the Kiln.

Jon according to the podcast I listened to (theme park stop), you’ll be in a moving elevator sort of ride vehicle on a moving platform, going around the different departments of the ministry.

Glenn Close appears in the pre show of the Guardians of the Galaxy ride at Disney Hollywood Studios (I think?). Must be incredibly lucrative for them. They’re being seen by thousands of people a day.

There is nothing like a Dame! King's birthday honours announced this morning. A good choice. I saw her quite a lot in the 1980s at the NT and RSC. For example in one of the casts of their famous Guys and Dolls production, and in the brilliant RSC Fair Maid of the West.

My most memorable singing moment of Imelda Staunton's is her performance of "The Boulevard of Broken Dreams" in They Shoot Horses, Don't They? at the RSC/Mermaid, in the 1980s.

About 4 minutes in on this video. As mentioned further up the thread, Staunton is back as Umbridge. Looks great
