I suppose since it's obviously not a play or musical a lot of audience "banter" will be expected.

This may not be happening at the West End now, but yikes, stans stagedooring and they ask these questions.
To the point that Jessica Chastain (currently performing A Doll’s House at Broadway) had to clarify that she’s not doing the film adaptation of The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. Fans and stans are fancasting her in the role of Celia St. James, the main love interest of Evelyn:
Meanwhile, someone commented in front of Jodie Comer (whose Prima Facie show is currently in previews on Broadway) that she finds Killing Eve awful. (I mean, yeah, the series finale was bad, but c’mon, Jodie doesn’t deserve to be said this in front of her)

I don't think that's such a bad thing to say to her, although hardly necessary to do so!

I dread to think what this is going to attract. What will the queue for the loo be like?

I didn’t watch it myself but online I saw a lot of fans very unhappy about the ending, so idk if it’s a general consensus. But it is certainly a strange thing to bring up when you’re a fan of hers and want to compliment her work! Maybe she was hoping her to agree or validate her opinion.

I'm not sure not liking the ending of Killing Eve is bad behaviour, maybe odd behaviour to tell Jodie Comer directly but since it happened at stage door and not during Prima Facie, I think it can get a free pass.

I think i would say something like “Jodie you were brilliant and the best thing in Killing Eve. Shame the ending was disappointing” Just saying i didn’t like the ending feels a bit mean spirited imo. But then I’m a teacher and sweetening criticism is second nature.

And why not focus on the amazing play you’ve just seen and tell Jodie you enjoyed that. Going with a negative about something she finished work on a couple of years ago just seems rude. Reminds me of my Mum saying to me as a kid ‘If you can’t say anything nice then don’t say anything at all’ !

People love to be noticed by people, especially famous people. I don't think they even care if it is positive attention or negative attention. They are getting attention.

"We are really excited about welcoming you to Phoenix Theatre, where we want everyone to enjoy the show. With that in mind, we politely ask that you show consideration to your fellow audience members, who have come to enjoy the performances on stage.
We all have a part to play in making sure the theatre is a fantastic experience for everyone – you can help by ensuring the professionals on stage are the only people entertaining us with their performances, and by being kind to our dedicated staff who are here to make sure everybody is safe. Anti-social behaviour towards our staff or other customers will not be tolerated"
Just had this email from ATG ahead of seeing Streetcar on Saturday. Is this a new thing following the recent issues? Don't recall having an email in those terms before.

Ah thanks, I must have skim read them previously. Don't worry, I was still a model audience member 😉

So, inspired by the other thread about old theatre programmes, I've been looking through some of mine. In one from the RSC way back in the 80s is a little note next to the cast list that shows there's always been complaints about bad behaviour:
"Please do not smoke or use cameras or tape recorders in the auditorium. And please remember that noise such as whispering, coughing, rustling of programmes and the beeping of digital watches can be distracting to the performers and also spoils the performance for other members of the audience"
So maybe things weren't always as perfect as we remember them!

Yep, I remember when this was in the programme. Sweet.

Last night at Shirley Valentine, when Sheridan delivers the line about the mispronunciation of the word "clitoris", someone in the box closet to the stage started shouting back that she agreed with her and Sheridan completely got thrown off by it and laughed. I think she saw the funny side of it but the person seemed to take it as permission to do similar later, which thankfully went ignored. Loads of phones going off last night too, was a night for it, seemingly!

Ah well, looks like theatre land have forgiven Alison Hammond. She shouldn't have been allowed back in a theatre, but I guess they'll do anything for some publicity.

It might just be a coincidence but Vanessa Feltz has not appeared on This Morning since the "incident". I only know this because I am currently off work sick so it's on in the background. Just so you know incase you think that I would normally watch it 😀
