Just seen this being discussed on another forum. Bad behaviour or attention seeking actor? If someone actually followed him to the train station then that's clearly more than just bad behaviour However, if he is taking the train from Charing Cross Station (which is the closest station to the theatre) then it might just be a case of those fans needing to catch a train from there, too. Really impossible to judge without having been there.

I know of a few amateur companies in the US who do in person announcements before the start of the show. It, indeed, may be the norm over there.
The best I have seen have been Gilbert and Sullivan companies who rewrite the lyrics to one of the songs to remind people about etiquette.
So you get a comedy song plus a useful reminder all in one.
Probably not going to work in the professional world but more steps do certainly need to be taken to improve what is a deteriorating situation in many venues

Waitress used to have a cute reworded jingle before the show about turning phones off, I think? And Kinky Boots had the actor playing Don come out and do a little sketch to the same effect. So, historically, musicals at the Adelphi seem to be on top of things They did both benefit from being set in times that have phones. I can see Les Mis struggling a little more to integrate something like that. But pretty much any show could do something akin to Heathers or Hamilton where there's a pre-show recording done in character that tells you to sit down, shut up and behave (probably more nicely than that). Les Mis did actually have one of these for a while, recorded by Matt Lucas (I think) as Boris Johnson... Not sure what, if anything, it has now. I know The Trials has a pre-recorded 'please don't record the proceedings' message they play a few times during incoming. That way most people hear it, but it doesn't interfere with the sudden start that so many shows like to have. If the two week run at the 250 seat venue can do it, it shouldn't be that hard for other productions.

I did wonder what they would replace Matt Lucas with, but I haven't see it in a while!

Really impossible to judge without having been there. Reading through the rest of his tweets it’s pretty sad, really. Twitter really brings out the worst in everyone. I actually don’t believe he was followed. I don’t believe it happened.

I think "following an actor to the tube" is something that could easily happen by accident. When I've left central London around 10:30pm-ish I've often spotted a few West End actors on the tube platform. If I was a patron who had just met that actor a few minutes previously at stage door then it would look pretty suspicious.

Not bad behaviour at a show but bad behaviour over a show: some casting director I’ve never heard of is throwing a huge Twitter tantrum over how it’s “NOT OKAY” for the names of the lead actors to be listed first and the name of the casting director credited underneath (for a show she didn’t cast or appear to have any involvement in, where the casting directors were credited and namechecked in the press release and on the website) on the grounds the casting director’s name should be above the stars because casting directors start work on a project before the actors do and the actors wouldn’t even have the job without the casting director.
Yes because it’s not like having celeb names attached brings in audiences or anything. Most people book shows because of the casting director.
How do some people function being so offended by everything.

It’s an important job, but let’s be honest… no one cares who the casting director is.

In an industry where the star name traditionally comes before even the TITLE of the show or movie, that particular casting director is going to feel a great degree of disappointment for the rest of their working days.

at Hamilton - people singing along - people on their phone throughout - someone saying loudly that they had enough and then leaving quite dramatically half way through act 2

It’s an important job, but let’s be honest… no one cares who the casting director is. True, and those that do care will be willing to go to the effort of scanning through a couple of paragraphs to find it. There's always a bit of angst about which names go on posters and how big, but IMO it's important to remember that the poster and other advertising is not the programme. I accept it then becomes a bit of a self-fulfilling prophesy that certain roles aren't assumed more important than others, but while seeing the name of a good casting director might provide reassurance, it's not what makes me want to see something.

Went to see Much Ado at the NT.
I'm a type 1 diabetic and about halfway through the first half could feel that my blood sugar was getting low. I carry biscuits with me so had to open and eat them. A bit of noise caused. I could hear tutting. At the interval still feeling low so went for an ice cream, however, they only take cards and mine has been cancelled due to "unusual activity" offered cash but they don't take it. The supervisor was called and I explained the situation again, by now I was missing out words. The queue behind me was getting longer. The supervisor said give him a caramel ice cream they are the sweetest. That and a bar of chocolate got me back to normal quickly.
I have written to the NT to thank them and enclosed a cheque for the ice cream and chocolate.
The problem was caused by me having a vegetable chili with cauliflower rice before the show, I should have realised that cauliflower has low carbs and reduced my insulin. My thanks to the NT for a great show and helping me.

My thanks to the NT for a great show and helping me. My diabetic brother-in-law used to carry hard candies for such an emergency. You'd still get the unwrapping crackling but might be quieter in the eating and supposedly is absorbed more quickly. He was also oxygen-dependent and went to the theater one night (in California), sitting in the back row with his wife in a wheelchair space next to him. Someone sitting in front of him complained about his portable oxygen machine's noise and asked him to turn it off! They ended up shifting seats with others in their party and putting the machine behind someone's legs, which seemed to satisfy them. But I can't imagine asking someone to turn off their oxygen! (Asking to be seated elsewhere would be understandable, but not asking someone to suffocate!)

At this evening’s performance of Pretty Woman, someone cheered loudly when the stage manager read out their prepared card that The Queen had died, loud boos and gasps from everyone in the audience.

There’s always one isn’t there. Whether you liked her or not, show some respect. Now is not the time!

At Saturday Night Fever tonight we were asked to stand up for the national anthem just before the show started.
One young man a couple of rows ahead of me remained seated and texted on his phone.

I don't see that as bad behaviour really (apart from being on the phone) Nobody should be compelled to stand for the anthem if they don't want to - it's not North Korea! Unwrapping sweets noisily on the other hand...

I would have done the same as a deliberate anti-monarchal statement.
I have strong antipathy towards everything the Queen stood for. I can acknowledge that an elderly woman with a family died and her death is as sad as that of any other elderly mother and grandmother, but I would very very strongly resent being requested or emotionally blackmailed to do anything to mark the passing of someone who who meant nothing to me.
IMO mourning should always be a personal choice.

Don’t mind not standing but the phone part is a bit disrespectful
