I can agree, it does sound pretty funny on paper! I suspect a camp trip was correct, although it was a foreign language group. We were too far back to affect the actors I suspect! When I take children we strategically place adults throughout the group and keep them in order. I would not accept anything other than perfection from my group - reacting to the show is fine and to be encouraged, actively disturbing is not. Thankfully my elderly in-laws were pretty much oblivious which kept my blood pressure down apart from the hands on their heads when the children were moving about!

Really sorry to hear about this and as someone who is litigious to a fault and has complained successfully and taken legal action on a number of occasions in my life,I think you have a serious case for a refund if you contact the Really Useful Group with all the details.Just an idea.It worked recently for a fellow member on the CFA thread,I believe.

Thank you for the advice but I don’t think I will for two reasons : 1) what I should have done on the night was spoken to the front of house staff, and then maybe things could have settled. If I had done that and still nothing changed then I would go for a refund, but because I did the British thing of not making a big fuss I don’t feel that I gave the theatre that opportunity to sort it all out. And 2) we paid day seat price and strangely all managed to enjoy the show. As I said, my in laws were pretty oblivious whilst the performance was on and my wife was happy because they were.
But thank you for your thoughts. It’s not something I would have otherwise considered.

No problem, just an idea,ptwest...such a shame when adults/children or both just don’t know about basic theatre etiquette.

This is the funniest thing i’ve ever seen anyone post on this board. Can we start some sort of hall of fame? (I have taken a screenshot to preserve it.) Thank you @happysooz . What a lovely thing to say, although credit should be given to all the punners on this thread as it's great when there's a chance to run with something like this now and again. Looks like it's business as usual here again now.😎 Anyone feeling bereft should take note that @theatremonkey 's off again on the Bad Behaviour by Theatres thread. Bit late to the party but did anyone mention ‘The Horse of Bernada Alba’ Boom Boom💥

Not at a show, but just walking through Kensington and saw two young guys walking together and dressed up like they were in The Book of Mormon, complete with white shirts and black name badges showing their Elder name.
Walked right next to them and they didn’t say “Hello”.

In which case, how will we know it is you? Please advise.

Probably shared this all in completely the wrong thread, but I burst out laughing when I'd walked past them. It was as if they'd just stepped off the stage (yet these were real Mormon missionaries).

They're standing outside all the exits of the theatre greeting everyone leaving.

One would have thought that basic consideration for others might have obviated the need for specific theatre etiquette, but it looks as if basic consideration for others isn't there.

Before the show is more usual, they still visit the Prince of Wales before/between shows!

I saw my second EdFringe show today before going to do mine and I really enjoyed it but I was really annoyed by 2 girls in front of me who kept on checking their phones every 5 minutes.
Most of the people in the area where I was sat had free entry due to being members of the company, including me. It made me wonder that they weren't paying much attention to the performance because they hadn't paid for it.

Touring production of The Mikado with mother yesterday. Relatively elderly matinee audience as expected, and I wasn't surprised by a bit of restrained singing along . Not really a problem for me, because I wasn't that heavily invested, in truth. However, an older lady behind me kept saying the lines just ahead of the actors, and commenting to her daughters on changes she noticed. At the interval she decided to ask me whether I was aware how the piece is traditionally staged (meaning, I think, Japanese costumes, which were absent). I affirmed that I had seen it before (!), and commented that she clearly knew the piece well (managed not to be too sarcastic I think!). She proceeded to explain that she had played Yum-Yum several times in her younger days, and comment on her surprise at physical types for certain roles, staging choices etc. She was clearly excited to see an old familiar piece but it baffled me that she seemed to have no awareness that it wasn't appropriate to talk so much, suck sweets very loudly and indulge in a lot of the senior version of "mansplaining". I kept wondering if there was a medical condition underlying, but really I think she just wanted to hold court!

So what would we call that? Pensioner-plaining?

O bless, for once something she actually knew more about than her daughters and so she went for it. As for the sweet sucking, lay off, girl.

Lovely to see a couple well into their 50's so passionately in love whilst sat in the Arts Theatre.
One second they're playing tongue tennis, the next the gentleman is tonguing the lady's earhole whilst she grabs at his hair. One way to pass the time before the show...
During one song; about K Howard being taken advantage of. He began licking the womans earhole out again!!!! Seemed fitting with the lyrics of the song;
'Cause all you wanna do All you wanna do baby Is touch me, love me, can't get enough, see All you wanna do All you wanna do baby Is please me squeeze me birds and the bees me Run your fingers through my hair Tell me I'm the fairest of the fair Playtime's over The only thing you wanna do is...

Response to a performer at the Edinburgh Festival who tweeted about someone who was on the phone throughout her show:
“There are times when I am so anxious in a theatre that getting out my phone and looking at it throughout the show would enable me to stay and be engaged with the show.”
