Do those two have fly towers?! Carlisle Sands doesnt have a fly tower. You can rig from the roof, but cant fly things 'out'.

I've never seen Matt Rixon perform but he's played part before and should be good. They will probably get a name or two in some of the parts - as said previously Velma, Wilbur and even Corny are the sort of roles they may look at.

Tour devoid in Est Anglia also.
Perhaps it is looking to come back to London, as pointed out above it is staying outside the M25.

I'll give it a miss this time. We had a thread about long tours recently and whether audiences start to get an inferior product towards the end. Manchester is 24th on the list and I can only imagine that it might all be a bit jaded by then.

I would love to see Layton in this, but alas, it's just not a very good show

www.westendwilma.com/news-cast-announced-for-the-uk-tour-of-hairspray-the-musical/ Will there be more cast announced ? That seems quite small for an ensemble or does the stage version always have a small cast ?

That looks like a similar size cast to the last tour. The Dynamites are ensemble too.
Interesting that they haven't gone down the celebrity casting like they did last time. The show is probably known well enough for them not to have to go down that route.

Really underwhelmed with the cast - only person I like loads is Brenda. Surprised there are basically no celebrities this time - especially Velma. They probably think they can sell it just off of name. Won't see again as saw last tour

Does Gina Murray not count as royalty? Her and her sister practically ran the West End in the late 90's/2000's and Mazz is still awesome. I might actually cough up to see this again.

I've a feeling that maybe tomj's feeling of the cast being underwhelming also stems from the surprise that there are no celebrities....

Norman Pace is perhaps the "name" casting but Brenda and Gina are established West End stars and Layton was fabulous in Rent.

According to Instagram Dan Clift (Starlight Express) is in this as first cover link. According to his post him and a number of others were left out of the press release

Gina is amazing actually and I am sure she will smash Velma. Not annoyed at no celebs just surprised as last time there were 4 celebs in the show. Sure it will be amazing tho with this musical theatre casting - Brenda was unreal last time!

Wow, we've gone from the cast being "really underwhelming" to "amazing" and "unreal" faster than you could say Good Morning Baltimore!

Thrilled this is going back on the road again, one of my very favourite shows. Great cast too!

I really dislike this tour/production.. They miss what this show is about.
It isn't a dance show, it's ABOUT a dance show. Yet again Drew Mconie has been drafted in as 'flavour of the month' and turned all the dances into modern day complexities. Flips and splits everywhere and no real understanding of the piece. The dances in the Original production, were echoes of the time. They were about being accessible to teenagers of that era, with themes etc. The set is also cheap and has no resemblance to Baltimore and the vocals are badly mixed with male dancers singing harmonies that are too low.
It's a shame, it lost a lot of its heart and sadly, in my opinion, will always get an audience in regardless.
Just read this back... it's not a vendetta against Drew, I just don't feel he has enough root in storytelling or detail, it's all about what looks impressive. On the Town being the perfect example.
