I'm surprised I couldn't find a thread on here for this - even if it was just to talk about it's finances (or lack of)! I stumbled across a bootleg audio today and I'm obsessed. This material sounds superb and that is backed up by the strong reviews (including NY Times pick).
I realise that the writing is pretty much on the wall for this production but it's such a shame. God knows why they took it to Broadway rather than the UK which I feel embraces intimate, sentimental musicals more than the US. Broadway seems to be firmly stuck in "Musicals with a capital M" mode with their offerings but quite frankly, that's a approach that is slowly killing it. Variety is the spice of life! However, I understand that whoever shouts the loudest wins (in a room that's increasingly noisy) and Maybe Happy Ending just gets lost in that.
Anyway, I hope this defys the odds and survives post-Christmas. Even better, if it had a future run in London.
Have any board members seen Maybe Happy Ending in person and have thoughts on the show?

This is the best new musical so far this season and it’s going to take something REALLY special to top it before the season ends. This is the show I’m recommending to every single person who asks me what they should see. Older people, younger people it doesn’t matter, it works for everyone. If you’re in NYC do yourself a favor and put this one at the very top of your list.

I really enjoyed this, the story/book especially and thought the performances were overall very strong. The only element I didn’t rate fully was the score - I came away thinking this would perhaps work better as a movie or a play. I think maybe though it needs a re-listen. It’s a very impressive design visually and quite unique in that sense. I hope it manages to pick up business.

It's an absolute gem of a show - I was VERY sceptic because I generally hate predictable "cutesy couple" rubbish, but this wasn't that at all - bittersweet and profound and absolutely lovely with stellar performances from the two leads.
Given how virtually everyone gushes about it AND now excellent reviews, I do hope it will be able to turn the tide and attract a bigger audience looking for true heart rather than overblown camp fests.

I had a quick look. Sound interesting but I have an issue with the premise. Why would a robot retire and not be recycled? I can't see why they would be kept using energy, living space, etc. Maybe that's being addressed in the show?

Why would a robot retire and not be recycled? Well for these two robots... {Spoiler - click to view} In Oliver's case, his former owner still has his password and Oliver waits for him to pick him up, so he's clearly not abandoned to the trash heap.
And Claire has been given her password by her owner and basically owns herself and won't throw herself into the trash.

I got rush tickets to see this today after reading the gushing comments above and I’m so glad I did. What a charming, sweet and clever show this is. Thoroughly enjoyed it and would love it to come over to London, I think it’d go down a storm.

Scenic design is absolutely amazing for this production. So much technology - projections and screens - yet so subtly underplayed at times. Remarkable they had so much restraint not to bombard the show with its use ( especially considering it likely consumed half the budget :-)

Oh, these songs are beautiful indeed.
And the animatronic-esque movement in this clip of the Korean cast is spellbinding. I hope this show can come our way someday.

I’ve been following the progress of this show and am desperate to see it It’s a while since I’ve seen such unanimously glowing reviews and the clips look/sound lovely, but that doesn’t seem to have translated into large audiences or weekly grosses.
Has anyone here who has seen ithe show have any thoughts on why that is? Granted the translated title tells you nothing about the show, it’s an unknown quantity and Darren Criss isn’t a huge name, but is that enough to kill a show that’s had such fulsome praise?
I’m assuming that if audiences don’t increase soon,it’ll probably close. I’m just trying to work out how long I can wait to see it before it’s too late? Are there any hints or even rumours anyone has heard about a closing being imminent? Any thoughts gratefully received.

I think it's too early yet - the reviews only just came out and word of mouth is even slower to spread. The show saw a big uptick in the weekly Grosses that were published yesterday (against the trend) - and now holiday season is coming up. I wouldn't be surprised if many are buying tickets for that now and it could help propel them towards the new year and if they can manage to survive those years, they can make it to award season... I actually think it's wonderful that it's still possible for word of mouth and reviews to save a show that seemed dead on arrival. We'll have to see how the next 1-2 weeks up to and including Thanksgiving go, I think.

No that it's probably much to gauge on, but it was full the day I went. In fact, I had that Mickey-Jo Theatre chap in the queue in front of me, who had already seen it once on his trip.
It does seem like word might be spreading on this.
Anyone know if there are cast recording plans?
