I felt bad for the Mistress and how horrible Eva was to her, even though her song made her sound alot more interesting than Eva and more of an interesting story! I wanna hear the Mistress' story! The mistress has one of the best songs in the show and she is really used as a plot device to show that Eva will do what she needs to do to get ahead. She not the nasty woman though that some make her out to be, she sees and opportunity and she takes it. The worst role in the show is Magaldi. such a pointless song and character LOL Maybe but it provided a nice bit of comedy which was lacking throughout the rest of the show (for obvious reasons).

I can't even remember who Magaldi is or what he sang. Clearly thst role isn't much of an exciting one compared to the Mistress who gets a great song.

IIRC Magaldi is the first person to fall for the charms of Eva. He gives her a lift up in society and introduces her to Buenos Aires, at which point she promptly drops him when someone more useful comes along.

Exactly and that's why his role is important, because is shows how at 16 she uses her sexuality to get with someone she sees as "glamorous" because he's in showbiz, uses him to get to BA and then proceeds to sleep her way through the ranks of actors and military to bigger and better things - Culminating in her ultimate conquest Peron. I think this is why the people of Argentina didn't take to the show, as it depicts their beloved as little more than a social climbing slut.

I've been a huge fan of "Evita" going back to the original production. In response to other comments on here, it was absolutely thrilling and genuinely ground-breaking in its staging and I wish we could see Hal Price's version back in the West End. As for this latest news, I'm always happy to have a chance to see the show (and personally I think Emma Hatton is terrific) but does London need it again? Is there an audience? I'm guessing Mr Kenwright thinks there's still money to be wrung out of it!

I remember this happening last year with Guys and Dolls, leaving the announcement of the next show very late too. Oh what a circus...

I remember Elena Roger being interviewed about her time as Evita when she was in Passion. If I remember rightly she said something along the lines of "I would love to perform Evita back home. I just wouldn't want to be in the theatre when they burn it down".

Emma Hatton and Gian Marco Schiaretti to lead the cast. Running til mid-October before going back out on tour. Should be going on-sale in the coming days.

In truth, its a great opportunity for both so am glad they are both staying on. I hope Sarah stays on as Mistress too, such a great moment!

No,no Daniel Johnson. She is leaving and auditioning for something that starts in September. Thankfully she has the ability to split in two like the lad in 'Our House' so will be able to fulfil both contracts. 🤐

This is all very exciting. I hope Emma enjoys her 35 minute hiatus between leaving Evita and joining... umm... Evita. Does anyone know when The Exorcist closes?

If there is an issue this show will find in London, it is that this is now the third London run just over a decade for Evita. That's a lot of reviving (I know it is a touring production coming in, and so was the last one, but you know what I mean!). It could really pose an issue, especially if they are having a lengthy run of 3 months.

Does anyone know when The Exorcist closes? That Tickx website or whatever it is had The Exorcist dates from Thurs 19th Oct - Sat 17th March '18 (plenty of the green stuff on Paddy's Day then!), but wouldn't necessarily rely on that being accurate.

It was on there, we weren't going crazy haha. I am assuming someone actually paid attention to this board or something, noticed the boo boo and pulled it quick. Like when everyone was reporting how much of a steal front row at 42nd Street was so they like tripled the prices. We are basically god.

Yes it was there the other day but they've removed it now. Think it's still happening though as per Daniel's post. I happpened to walk past the Phoenix Box Office today and decided to pop in to ask about Evita and The Exorcist. The lady there just snapped "nothing confirmed yet". She could learn a thing or two from the Donmar box office about customer courtesy!

That's true, it is a "throw something in just to keep it up and running" kinda thing.
