I found this very entertaining - it’s a two-hander with really excellent, engaging performances from the actors (particularly so for a first preview.)
Themes of loyalty, brotherhood, sacrifice and the nature of beauty are explored and it’s often very funny.
The ending’s a bit weak but, overall it’s 85 minutes well spent.

I have found memories of the Bush theatre production a few years ago. Cracking play.

Show stop about 30 minutes in. Looks to be a tech issue with a winch. They have cleared us all out. Hoping for an update and for us to be let ...and as I type we are going back in!

Alright, so we got going again. Probably around a 20 minute delay as getting us all out and then back in again takes time in a small space. I'm pretty sure a winch failed and they had to get a ladder to get a prop down. All good, just the second preview so lots of the team around including Tom Littler and the staff dealt with the disruption really well.
Other than that, we liked this - obviously a show stop and 20 minute break has to be taken into account - but didn't feel that the relationship between the two guards really clicked. While it didn't feel forced, it didn't feel quite flowing and natural either. Give it another preview or two without issue and I think it will work nicely.
So we enjoyed it but left a little disappointed. I'm pretty content to chalk it up to the disruption and suggest you go with tmesis comments above. Curious to hear from anyone else who visits over the coming weeks.
