Apologies if I've missed an earlier thread - I'm still finding my way around so I might have done; but I searched on the play title and the theatre and couldn't see any mention of it. I've booked for a late preview of Richard Bean's latest at what appears to be one of his bases. I try to see Bean's work when I can as he's usually entertaining even if he probably has to live with the likelihood that he'll never again have a success like One Man, Two Guvnors. This one is set around his home town of Hull - which makes me wonder why the premiere is at Swiss Cottage rather than Hull Truck. Personally I found his earlier work like Toast, The Heretic and (most of all) The Big Fellah most stimulating but most of the others I've seen have been, at the very least, a decent night at the theatre. The only real dud was Pitcairn while 71, Coltman St was rather less than scintillating - which gives me a very slight worry for Reykjavik as I wondered whether a lot of the local references in 71, Coltman St (a play about the origins of Hull Truck) went over my head. Anyway, I'm looking forward to the new piece. Anyone else booked? www.hampsteadtheatre.com/whats-on/2024/reykjavik/
