Looking to bring most of obc and wanting to film I hear. I guess it'll be going to either the Noel Coward or the Harold Pinter in February. Three of the original cast are leaving the Broadway production on 29th Sept and I think they'll come over here with the rest when the Broadway run finishes on 12th January (it has just announced the final extension).

I think SFP will put Stereophonic in the Noel Coward and The Years transfer from the Almeida in the Harold Pinter.

I just saw the show and spoke to Will Butler who said the show is opening West End in the Spring and he *thinks* it’ll be at the Duke of York’s.

Juliana and Sarah both said they weren’t going. I hope something changes because the UK deserves to see their phenomenal performances. When I asked Juliana she said “No, we’re not going over there sadly” and in the moment I thought she meant any of them. But maybe she meant her and her family?

Interesting that people can file copyright lawsuits over non-fiction autobiographies now... all this reads as is them trying to get some money out the play!
Who are the current rightsholders for The Woman With The Whip, or source material of other non-fiction based shows? They'd have a field day.

To seemingly use one source material and have dialogue straight from it seems dodgy territory

Yes the argument is that the play is heavily lifted from the sound engineer’s memoir, the only material that exists from that point of view. There’s loads of Fleetwood Mac books but only that one gives that very specific perspective. There will likely be a settlement but it depends how long that’ll go on for and as to whether it puts a delay on the play hitting the west end.

Could be wrong but I saw a list of titles on the Royal Court's website which I assume will comprise the next season, and this wasn't on the list (someone had said Stereophonic was going there before the West End).

Saw this on Broadway a few weeks ago, and it was honestly one of the best plays I've seen in recent years. It won't be for everyone since it's long and features a lot of seemingly meandering conversations, but what it does so effectively is create a real world where - by the end - you feel like you've really been on a journey with these flawed characters. It's very special.
For anyone worried about the OG cast not transferring, I wouldn't worry. This is about the "whole" - the set, the music, the subtle interplay between characters, the alternate takes, the journey. I saw the new cast (featuring Amy Forsyth, Rebecca Naomi Jones and Benjamin Anthony Anderson) and they were astounding. Amy Forsyth, especially, blew me away and gives a very different vocal performance to what can be heard from Sarah Pidgeon on the cast recording, but one which is equally effective.
I imagined the National might take it. It would work brilliantly in the Lyttelton. But nice to see it's probably getting a West End outing instead and I'll definitely be booking a second visit.
