Adrien Brody.... I might be joining Donmar today. That is amazing casting (we literally watched his Oscar winning performance in The Pianist yesterday)

Ooh I remember thinking the documentary this is based on was really good but that was some time ago now - and that is some casting.

Tim Sheader coming in HARD for his first season. Three plays and a musical, three of which are written by Americans and two of which are entirely on American subjects. Standard Donmar programming.

I haven't heard of him and I really don't want to see anything else involving the US prison system.
Celia Imrie, however ..

I mean with the people attached to them (and the UK premiere of a beloved 'cult' musical) - this is exciting!

Very excited about Intimate Apparel. Have always wanted to see that in a major production since missing the original London one.

I wonder if this is a one man show? Almost certainly, since it's based on David Sington's documentary in that format:

Have you seen or read Intimate Apparel? While your appreciation of it might be enhanced if you know its cultural and historical context, it's telling a story about migrant experiences and women's experiences that should translate well across cultural locations. It's certainly not embedded within a particular time and place to the extent that, say, Chekhov's The Cherry Orchard is.

Just seen this new season announcement, there’s a nice piece on BBC News. Definitely want to see Celia Imrie so will be booking next week.
Does anyone with previous experience know what public booking for the Donmar is like? Have most of the tickets already sold to members or usually plenty left?

I have always managed to get tickets when the public sale opens so if you are there on time, you have a good chance to get what you want (and compete with me for that :-))

I’ve been so disillusioned with the Donmar that I didn’t even bother reading the new season announcement when it popped into my inbox this morning!
But this actually looks like a tasty season of work that I want to see!
So, erm, for those who have only been booking the Donmar in recent years - there might be a wee bit more competition for tickets this time around.

I find it interesting Lynette Linton is AD of the Bush but she's directed Sweat and Clyde's at the Donmar.

Also Nick Hytner is directing at Royal Court...
In this case I'd assume that Linton and Lynn Nottage have a good working relationship and want to keep it going. Given the success of both Sweat and Clyde's I can't really blame 'em!

I just realised the other reason, the Bush's focus under Lynette Linton is new British plays by new British writers so it makes sense that she does things at other theatres like don't fit the Bush brief.
