I think I saw a camera, so hopefully. When I have seen things being filmed in this hall, there has been no doubt about the presence of cameras as they and their operators were very obtrusive. I was near the back of the stalls (PP) and could see four possibly five people sitting by a desk in a central position about 10 rows from the front. At least one, probably two, were filming, others sound tech I think. I had surmised they were wheelchair users before the concert started. They were indeed quite obtrusive. At least 30 people arrived in my field of vision after the start right up to 7.30. I also noticed the toilet visits started at 7.10 and I did feel for one lady who had to go three times before the interval - she had an aisle seat bless her. It's unusual for me to not be at or near the front (too expensive when first on sale) and I found myself easily distracted by entries and exits, nearby fidgeters, whispered conversations, crafty glances at mobile phones and those watches that light up though nothing I could really call bad behaviour and it was a wonderful concert.

It is fascinating to hear people discussing the orchestral wonderful sound. This was in an acoustically designed concert hall and surely is to be expected. . It is sad that amplification is used in a place where there is no need. I fully appreciate that the nature of this performance is very different from the norm for this venue and that amplification is expected for this type of event. It would be interesting to know if it would have been possible to have no amplification for orchestra or singers as is done for so many performances here. I really donโt know whether or not it would be feasible. From my limited understanding, I think the people at the back would hear nothing but tin without amplification. They tried to fix the acoustics there but the restricted building status meant they couldn't actually change anything that would significantly improve the sound. Its extra echoey there because the ceiling is so high (the Albert Hall is worse), and they're not allowed to alter that. But more problematic, apparently, unamplified bass voice sounds fade fifty percent by midstalls, so unamplified, at the back, you can forget about good sound. Recordings made there sound good cos they mic things separately and mix them. Apparently, London's best sounding unamplified concert hall is the Cadogan Hall, but its too small for big shows. I'm no expert, so I'm just passing on stuff I've read. Regardless, the sound of this concert from Row D was echoey but otherwise great, for me. Its when percussion drowns out singers voices, like at the "Made in Dagenham" concert elsewhere that I get upset. Here, the percussion was hidden away somewhere and piped in, which was an excellent decision, I felt.

I wonder how many of the latecomers were caught out by the start of 7pm rather than 7.30pm. Lucky for me I was at the front so didn't really notice too much movement.

That seems like casting against type. Still I hope it's good as there's no definitive recording for me as there's always at least 1 song missing on all the currently available albums.

You can listen to 30 second clips on the Chandos website of the album. Thanks for the tip, I've just been through the whole album (well the first 30 seconds of every track) and it sounds incredible. September can't come soon enough.
