I've asked the venue for timings, nothing back yet It's quite a long musical from what I remember and I believe it's the original orchestrations so we may be out by midnight!

I’ve never enjoyed this part. It really doesn’t seem to belong. Agnes de Mille had a classical background although her work on Rodeo seemed to fit.

What do they do about the ballet in these concert versions? Skip it? The semi-staged Proms performance in 2017 had the ballet staged, helped I suppose by having in Scarlett Strallen a Laurey who could do her own dancing rather than requiring a double. So I suppose it depends whether this concert is the everyone-stands-in-a-line-behind-music-stands sort or the semi-staged sort. (I'm not going so I don't know what the advanced publicity has indicated.)

It's a Forth Wall production so there will be no music stands and the cast will be in costume. I was also at the Proms concert and they also had Robbie Fairchild who is an amazing ballet dancer so made the ballet scene enjoyable but I agree it could be cut and you would miss nothing.

Loving this so far, Phil Dunster is just getting away with it due to a real charm and chemistry.

I'm afraid I don't actually remember Fairchild being in the ballet sequence, as it's focused on the characters of Laurey, Curly & Jud. (To my considerable annoyance our Tivo box at the time malfunctioned not long afterwards & had to be replaced so I lost my recording & have never been able to watch it back.)

Just home after a great evening. Overall I really enjoyed it, the only weak link for me was ZiZi I’m afraid. While she is obviously a very accomplished singer her style didn’t mesh well with Phil’s during People Will Say We’re In Love. She completely took over and it didn’t feel like a duet. Which is a shame as it’s one of my favourites in the show
Also several times it was hard to make out what she was saying, don’t know if it was the sound or her accent but was difficult to understand her especially towards the end. We thought it was just us but overheard a group saying the same thing while we were on the tube going home
Phil Dunster was great. Never seen him sing before but was pleasantly surprised and would like to see him do more on stage. Christina and Jordan were great as Ado Annie and Will
I know this has been heavily discounted through offers and the theatre definitely seemed quieter than at Something Rotten two weeks ago but the audience seemed to love it. Would have loved a song after the curtain call to finish it off though

I agree with so much!
Zizi was too operatic and loud, so she drowned him out.
Will Parker, Jud, the Peddler and Aunt Eller were incredible.
