I wonder if she’s ever got stuck half way? I vaguely remember overhearing ushers at the 2nd London preview performance talking about how the show the night before without the flying working properly, and how she only just made it across the stage. And how the 2nd preview was it done properly for the first time. Also in the original production didn’t Mary just fly off the side of the stage and then just out over the first couple of rows and straight up beside the boxes on the same side or am I making that up? Was the flying right out over the audience just added in the later productions? |

We were at the second Bristol preview way back when, and she didn’t fly out, but did on subsequent shows.

The most impressive flight I saw was at the Manchester Palace, where she swooped low over the stalls then up and into the gods.

I saw the second tour at WMC, and I remember being very impressed with the flying there. I seem to remember her swooping down very low and then going right up into the upper circle. It's such a magical moment, I can't believe people would complain about occasionally seeing some wires 😅 |

I find it interesting that Cameron hasn't meddled with Mary Poppins in the same way he did with Les Miserables and Phantom but I guess you can't really reinvent Mary Poppins given the film is so iconic. I think it has been though - not only is the musical significantly different from the film in many ways - new characters, plotlines, scenes and reworked songs etc, it has also been changed a number of times throughout its life on stage. I believe taking the production to Broadway was where the bigger changes first started to happen - changing songs around and making the show more colourful for family audiences at the very least. |

I find it interesting that Cameron hasn't meddled with Mary Poppins in the same way he did with Les Miserables and Phantom but I guess you can't really reinvent Mary Poppins given the film is so iconic. I think it has been though - not only is the musical significantly different from the film in many ways - new characters, plotlines, scenes and reworked songs etc, it has also been changed a number of times throughout its life on stage. I believe taking the production to Broadway was where the bigger changes first started to happen - changing songs around and making the show more colourful for family audiences at the very least. I've always thought the later changes were due to Disney rather than Cameron! |

Show stop tonight just after Jolly Holliday, blamed on technical difficulties. No idea what but seemed to get sorted pretty swiftly.

Is the running time still around 2hr 50min? Going to a matinee soon... I’d allow for it. Sign when you walk in states it will be 2 hours and 40 minutes (including the interval) but my 7:30 performance ended just shy of 10:30. We did have a brief show stop but It certainly didn’t delay us any more than 5 minutes. |

Show stop this afternoon in the second half near the end where Mr Banks picks up the kite... Currently waiting to see if we'll get to finish the show.
Edit... Just a short stop. Absolutely ten out of ten for this production. It's practically perfect in every way.
