Hey everyone! I'm new here so thought I'd introduce myself. I'm Ash, I'm 33 and I'm originally from South Wales, but I'm now in Zürich, Switzerland. I'm a huge fan of all things theatre, mostly musicals, and have several booked for this year already, including Tarzan in Stuttgart, Six in Zürich (Intl. Tour), and Starlight Express in London.
Looking forward to chatting

Hi welcome Ash and nice to meet you. It would be interesting to hear about theatre in Europe so do post about what you see.

Hi Ash, and welcome!
Admins, this gives me an idea! Can we have a pinned "Introduce yourself" thread where forum members can introduce themselves, say where they are based, what their favourite musicals, plays, etc. are. It would be quite nice!

If this is now the official pinned introduction thread, maybe it should be renamed, so that not only new members feel like they should say hello, but all the oldies can introduce themselves too?

Hello, oldie here from the olden days of the never to be mentioned website on theatre. I was asked to be a moderator cos it was a good way to control my enthusiasm; I’m a play person, just the odd musical and I usually rant about the awful loo provision in theatres and the terrible architecture and facilities of our beloved National theatre. Otherwise I am very calm and considerate and charming. I love to hear all the gossip and insights you all have and I am in awe of the people who see so many productions. I’m looking at you, Neil. Once upon a time I was on the Olivier panel and I would encourage anyone who sees a lot of stuff to apply cos it is free theatre for a year, best seats in the house and you meet a few interesting people.

Hello there,
I've been a member for a while.
I am a huge fan of Blood Brothers (90 times seen so far) - as one of the driving unofficial sources of promotion and fan engagement of the show, it has given me so much joy! I met so many wonderful people through the Blood Brothers-community.
I do see other shows too, and have seen many musicals. Lately I have been blending in more plays, which I enjoy too.
These days I often go on my own, although at times I go with my partner or friends.
My partner is not so keen on theatre, so I have to pick our trips very carefully - I've told him if he doesn't enjoy 'The Woman in Black' in Bath in just over two weeks, I'll never suggest a theatre trip again. 😂
I live half the year in Liverpool, and the other half in Weston-super-Mare.
I'm 48, originally from the Netherlands (but the last 27.5 years in England), love reading, theatre (obvs), cinema, food, sleep. Recently I started an OU-course in English Literature and Creative Writing.

Welcome Ash, I'm mainly a musicals fan. My favourites are Sunset Boulevard, Blood Brothers, Les Miserables amongst many others. Have lived all over England and when I lived in Essex I used to go to London every week on my day off.

I’ve unpinned this because after almost a month, many new joiners and a mention of this thread on their welcome to TheatreBoard PM not a single newbie has “said hello”. Looks like it’s not going to be a thing here. Nice try though and thanks for the suggestion.

Hello from Australia! My name is Peter and I am a musician, musical lover and a semi-retired chef (health issues 😔) Australia has a reasonably threadbare musical theatre scene if you’re looking for something very new. As an example, it was roughly a decade or more before we got Phantom. So mostly, I look for well made shot videos on the usual channels, and try to collect OST’s when they become available. I would love to see Broadway and West End, but I have left it too late and cannot travel now. But at very least, I have a connection to the theatre world vicariously through this site and the people discussing here. Thanks for reading 🫠

Hi everyone! Just a little bit about myself. Usually it's me and my boyfriend going to shows together. We live in Warwickshire, though I am Belgian and moved here just over 5 years ago.
My very first musical I saw was Lion King in London, back in 2006. Altogether, I haven't seen that many different shows over the years. I tend to stick with 'what I know'. I know, I'm slightly odd, lol.
But upon following certain performers, who then leave a show on to do something else, I've become more aware of what else is out there.
I love going to concerts too. I tend to go to those alone, as the boyfriend doesn't always like what I like. Though, he's been a good sport a few times and went along, hehe.
The list so far: - Lion King London 6x - Lion King UK tour Bradford - Aladdin London - Come from away London 9x - Come from away UK tour Leicester 2x - The third man London 2x - Mrs Doubtfire London - Guys & Dolls London - The little big things London 2x
And we have some upcoming shows too: - Fawlty Towers London - Book of Mormon Birmingham
I saw Prince of Egypt at the movies last year. We did have tickets bought in 2019, and after having that re-booked twice, I couldn't go eventually, so boyfriend went alone.
Also saw a few plays: - The starry messenger London - Plaza suit London - The unfriend London

Can you get stuff on the internet from theatres in UK? So much more is available these day. I wonder of any of our members can direct you to sites that are out there for our ‘abroad’ members

With a little searching there are loads of performances, behind the scenes interviews and documentaries, even full shows on YouTube.
