I don't wish to seem rude, but may I just ask Dr Tom whether he had a programme, or has read anything about the origin and creation of this show? It is not written by Meat Loaf. It was conceived by Jim Steinman some years ago as a stage musical but before it came to be produced, Steinman adapted the songs for Meat Loaf to record and perform, with great success. What we are now seeing finally is the show as originally conceived by Steinman albeit with a substantial amount of work on the score to fit the current book and production. Apart from my complaint, I think Dr Tom's critique is a fair one and in fact he hasn't mentioned the terrible choreography which I am assuming remains much the same as it was at the Coliseum and which I, as somebody who was greatly impressed by the show as a whole, found wholly inadequate. Thanks, not the best phrasing on my part. I should have put “songs previously performed by Meat Loaf”. I realise he didn’t write everything. To me, his performances, that operatic style, have always sounded similar. And the style in the show (for the reason you identified) is the same. But I know lots of people who are big fans of Meat Loaf, so I can appreciate people like the music and the show has a market, even if I’m not it. There are a few TV screens strategically placed near the front of the stage, so you should still be able to follow what’s going on from the front row, even if you can’t see it all.

...yes the front row stalls are cheaper as you won't get a view into Raven's bedroom and you run the risk of being covered in dry ice, water and Strat blood! Some might pay extra for the immersive experience!

Well the TodayTix rush tickets didn’t go very quickly this morning, still some available. Looks like they are pretty decent seats in the centre blocks of row T and U which should usually be £75 at the moment, so a real bargain
Am going this evening and looking forward to seeing the alternate Strat!

I will be interested to know what the view from Row B stalls centre is like and whether it is any better than Row A. booked for a Saturday matinee when tickets first went on sale, hoping stage would not be too high. If it looks bad then may try for rush tickets on the day so that got the option to move.

I had a quick go in a friend's seat on Monday at the interval but didn't think to take a pic. If you're row B centre I think you should be just fine. The stage floor itself is steeply raked towards the back, with raised areas at the front on both sides. I sat centre front row at the Coliseum and loved it.

I went yesterday and had previously seen it at the Coliseum. I was quite taken with this when I first saw it, but less so this time. There are some great performances and I like the music. So, not sure what was missing for me.
One issue might be sound. It certainly sounded a lot less clear than at the Coliseum. Obviously this is start of previews and the Dominion should be able to get this right.
It certainly attracts its fans. I saw someone I spoke to when I went to the Coliseum who seems to have gone to it endless times. Some were dressed up, some very excited and some seemingly engaged in a quasi spiritual experience.

I’m becoming increasingly fearful to go back, as the level of audience ‘interaction’ seems to be on the rise. Can someone reassure me that it’s just dressing up and not calling out like some tanked up old trouts last time I went?

I wish I still had the photo, but I saw on facebook a while ago someone went to see the show, between the Manchester and London run, I think it was 50 times? I may be wrong on the exact number, but the tickets he had practically filled the wall.

It makes me nervous to hear about sound issues. I've experienced this too much recently at musicals (even some long running shows, in parts) and it's something which really sticks out to me. Hopefully if I hold off a few weeks before booking this will be sorted during the preview period.

Hi, I’m up to twelve visits now and can confirm that the audience is mostly well behaved On big nights, such as first preview and press night there were, and will be, a lot of us ‘bat clanners’ in the audience - however, our interaction extends no further than starting well deserved standing ovations and applause/cheers! There is one moment in the show where audience members may call out. This is invited and encouraged by a knowing look from whoever is playing Strat that evening! I can’t speak for everyone but I am incredibly concious not to let my enthusiasm spoil the experiences of other patrons sitting nearby. I myself get annoyed at those who sing loudly or act rowdy etc except at the encore. I have to say, I am partial to dressing up but this has only ever been well received!

I wouldn’t worry too much about the sound issues, it’s the very drunk audience members singing along out of tune to the songs that will be the main problem here!

It sounded great at the Coliseum, I'm sure they'll iron any issues in previews. Im guessing the show didn't get a massive amount of tech rehearsal at the theatre given how fresh out of another venue it is.

Dont worry, when I saw it in Manchester last year I was singing my head off as well along with most of the audience! I was sober mind you! It’s just great fun and doesn’t take itself too seriously.
